The hotel is huge! It has a main pool area, a quieter pool (over 16's as it is deeper), spa, hamam, some evening entertainment and if you're all inclusive, tons of food choices at the buffet (surprisingly mixed reviews but I really enjoyed the sheer choice of stuff).

The hotel is 2 and a quarter hours from Antalya airport. We had prebooked a hire car - I would highly recommend this, read on. Firstly, the road from the airport to the hotel is a fairly straight drive along the coast. For cheaper data (needed it to sat nav my phone), I bought 20gb with Global y/o for 12 euros. I barely used 5gb as the hotel has wifi but it was handy for getting about during day trips.

The hotel is situated on the hill above Mahmutlar, about 15-20 mins from Alanya. With a hire car, the drive from the beach to the hotel front door is 10 mins. So it would take up to an hour walking as it's mainly uphill! Hence a hire car was amazing to have. Most of the guests are Russian or speak Russian. I also found most of the shops in Alanya also speak Russian. I quite enjoyed an environment with less fellow Brits. The staff were busy but friendly. One lady at the pool bar appeared grumpy a lot but after speaking to her in basic Turkish (hi, how are you, can I please have) she was lovely. She probably just gets asked for drinks without any pleasantries. Same with the hotel staff. Learning a few basic greetings, hello, thank you, how are you and they were amenable to most things.

The food - I really enjoyed the buffet style meals. The choice is vast; for breakfast, everything you could think of, especially eggs, pastries, breads but they would make you fresh waffles or omelettes too. There was always a salad area for every meal of the day too. The main meals had a lot of chicken, some other meat options, veg options and fish. The desserts had lots of choice; I'd recommend the baclava. The only thing it didn't have were fresh spices to add but a small gripe. It's quite nice not having to wait for a dish but have food instantly!

The rooms - we were upgraded, not sure if it was bringing them shortbread as a hello gift but we had 3 rooms on the same floor. Huge, amazing big balconies too. The toiletries, there weren't any, which might have annoyed some people but we had our own with us so it didn't become an issue. There's rudimentary coffee and tea options in the room and they keep you well stocked with water bottles each time you run low (2 x 1.5 ltr ones). I had a main living area, large bathroom and large bedroom. The bath is also a jacuzzi but it is so noisy, so we didn't really use it. I'm aware that there are other rooms which are not in the main hotel. I'd say unless you have a hire car, try and get the main hotel.

Pools - the quiet pool is brilliant and gets the sun later. The main pool is a kids one then a fun area in the main pool and lane swimming area too. Water seemed clean. There's also a water park. There are a couple of lifeguards but they're at the bottom. So on the slides, if your kid is younger, maybe go up with them. Or just make sure they wait before going down straight after someone else. Great fun there but the water is cold.

Entertainment - one night they had a dance troupe, who were really good. Another night, they had a fire thing which was decent, both in the ampitheatre near the water park. The bingo was pretty boring and a bit expensive (6 tickets for 15 euros) then they had a karaoke. Overall, the entertainment was 'okay'.

Cleanliness - can't think of anything I'd fault here. I would say that the facade, ie the main pics etc showcase all the stunning parts. For example, if I put the shower on too powerfully, it would leak and soak a chunk of the bathroom floor, so I used one of the towels to protect the area there. But the bathroom itself was nice. The cleaning staff would do stuff like make the hand towel into a swan or something most mornings, a nice little touch.

Getting around and the beach - Hire a car! We would zip down the hill and turn left to drive about 2 mins along the main road to the private beach area. The beach was great, the water was amazing. Also, because it's private, and all the other people are also guests at the same hotel, you feel less paranoid about leaving your bag while you swim etc. Although one of us was usually on a lounger. The food bar isn't as good here but I don't blame the staff. For example, if you order chips/fries, you get about 10. Better off ordering a burger if you eat meat. Or the pasta as I did. Alanya is a really easy drive along the main road. If you want to clothes shop, I'd recommend going. We also went to Damlatas Cave, the beach here is terrific too. Alanya is a pretty town.

Overall, I'd recommend the hotel, especially for families. Like most hotels, the rooms are not soundproof. So one night I heard a baby cr;ying very loudly. But I'm not blaming the baby! I also found as most of the guests are European, mostly Russian, Ukranian, Germans and some Dutch (and a few from England), overall, it wasn't like you're hearing partygoers coming in at 5am etc, not that type of hotel. Other things that might annoy someone are lack of toiletries; it didn't bother us, as we always bring stuff on holiday (surely most people do?). If you learn hello, and thankyou, they appreciate it

As the hotel is up a hill, and you want to go to the shops down the hill in town or to the beach, you either have to get the shuttle bus or go in a hire car. Without either, you'll get knackered and won't enjoy it as much. If you're happy staying in the huge hotel complex for amenities, no issues.
There is one thing I felt was inaccurate. There is no gym! There's a room with about 7 exercise bikes, which look old and are noisy when using. But if there was an actual gym, I never found it. Maybe they are planning on a full gym in time but at present, there isn't one.
I found the room clean and bedding comfortable. Overall, I'd say the hotel is great. But if you want to get around outside of it, you need transport or a lift. It's a lovely spot for a break, with clean beaches too and good ambience. Family friendly

This hotel is disgustingly bad, it’s dirty wall paper hanging off , furniture is ripped , rooms are dirty and tired, most of the facilities are not open, I saw people saying you get what you pay for , this was not cheap when we booked it and pictures look fabulous, but these are old and dated and looks nothing like this anymore, we complained about facilities not being open but they don’t won’t to know ! 
Please don’t waste your money there far better hotels out there , plus it’s a 3 hr trip from airport then they stop to try get you to buy from shop ! 
Everyone has different taste I get that but this is on another level !

Don’t waste your money!

The hotel was lovely! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hasan was brilliant, super chatty and gave us plenty of different entertainment options. We stayed for 10 nights and didn’t get bored of the all inclusive as the food was amazing. There’s lots of activities and entertainment through your the day and on the evenings. Would definitely recommend if you’re thinking about visiting Turkey!

Amazing!

Amazing hotel. I really struggle to understand people that give this hotel negative reviews. For what you pay it’s absolutely amazing. The people are very friendly the pools are amazing the food is lovely. A la carte restaurants a snack bar that serves fresh fish daily along with pizzas, pasta, burgers. They have buses that can in to Alanaya twice a day and buses that go to the beach, which is also all inclusive. The transfer time between the hotel and Alanya is around 35 minutes. Own water park along with activities throughout the day that also caters for kids. They are fully aware that the hotel is not right on the strip and do everything possible to cater for people that don’t want to go there. Please ignore they negative reviews. If you calculate costs, it costs no more than £50 a night to stay here and that gets you a nice room, good food, fun activities, a water park, free ice creams, free crepes, freshly maid pittas all day and even a Starbucks (paid). Ignore the negative reviews and come to this place. Me an my partner loved it!!!

Amazing

We took our grandkids for one week in August and were pleasantly surprised. 
We had a three bedroom, two bathroom apt in the main building, with fabulous sea and mountain views. The rooms were huge, very clean, excellent air conditioning, huge balcony, fully kitchen, we could not fault it.
The waterpark is amazing, and the food there was really nice, we spent most of our days there.''
The main pool was also great though very busy in August, but that didn't bother us. The indoor pool was good as it was cooler and refreshing.
The food in our opinion, was good, having a large variety from lamb, fish, chicken, duck, sushi and more. We also ate at the A La Carte restaurant, where we sat on the outside terrace with fantastic views. The food there was delicious, the even made a special birthday cake for my granddaughter on her 10th birthday.
I really loved Goldcity and will definitely be visiting again. There was only negative for me, and that was the lack of air conditioning in public areas of the hotel, especially the restaurant. The weather in August was extremely hot and humid, so air con was needed in all areas. We could not sit indoors as it was unbearable, it was obvious they were trying to save money, which is not acceptable. If the air con in main building had been on I would have given this hotel a 10/10.

Thoroughly enjoyed

Firstly, this 5 star hotel is by no means a 5 star, more like a 3 star max
We checked into this hotel at 5am after a long 2.5  hour transfer feeling extremely tired. (I recommend you book private transfer instead of a group transfer)
Porter helped us to our room but smashed our expensive bottle of whisky bought in duty-free, and no one offered a replacement or even a sorry. So it's not a great start. 
We were supposed to be in block B but upgraded to Family room in main hotel before we came, and it was so dated and smelled really bad of foist in the bathroom.   
Went to welcome meeting and asked about the bowling and arcade was told no arcade or bowling at this hotel, which was strange as it's right near the main pool area. He tried to sell us trips, but we had pre booked before we arrived, so pretty much got up and said ok have a nice holiday and left us sat there.
We have mixed feelings about the food as the buffet restaurant was beyond abysmal for all meals, especially breakfast.
There is a snack bar by the pool, which was waiter service, the food was lovely.
International al la carte restaurant was Delicious, best meal we had all week.
Staff were ok, they didn't understand much English so could come across rude.
Entertainment was good, no complaints at all.
Cleaner came daily and did a great job.
Drinks not watered down like some hotels so that was nice.
Pool is huge and alot going on which was fun but could do with being cleaned more often  as very gritty on your feet.  
Shuttle to alayna was pointless as we had to wait 1 hour 45 minutes before they would take us so ended up getting a taxi for 700 lira.
Didn't go to beach so can't comment. 
We did enjoy our holiday but overall we would not return to this hotel or Alayna area.

turkey 2024 summer

The hotel is great and big. There is a lot of different activities and somethings for everyone. It has a lot of bar and snacks bar around the pool. It is both for adults and kids. The hotel has nice workers and different activities doing the day.

A great hotel

Arriving to the hotel, it really is in the mountains with nothing around for atleast a 7 minute drive/taxi ride. You drive past a construction site that’s right by hotel. 

The hotel is nice but I wouldn’t say special, could definitely do with updating and a freshen up. It’s not modern. 

Me and my son got to our room, he went to open drawers and a knob come off the drawer I opened wardrobes to put clothes away and someone’s luggage tags was left in the wardrobe. 

It’s clear the room hadn’t had a thorough clean, there was marks on wardrobe mirror and balcony doors were dusty and fingerprinted. 

The food was nice, but just nice. Kids buffet was really silly. No choice at all, about 4 things but the same as adults buffet just smaller scale. Nothing for the fussy/picky/plain eater. 

Everything was done and dusted by 1am, had to go to bed, could order room service but they didn’t understand you, there was no food/drink menu in the room and had to pay extra. 

Room key cards! Everyday they stopped working! Thankfully we was on the first floor, never the less a pain to go back downstairs (the lifts take forever! And are like green houses!) to complain to reception, they change the card and same happens the next day! I spoke to others and the same had happened to them. One girl on reception looked at you as if you really inconvenienced her. Chinese/asian orientation, young. 

Entertainment. Don’t bank on it! Really only aimed at small children, no older than 7/8 I’d say. Every 2/3 days something “good” came on, like acrobatics or stunts. But there was much getting older kids involved. The only thing to entertain is say 9-15 year olds was an arcade, which you pay extra for. 

Drinkers - wine - it’s tastes very chemical like, very strong, red, white & rose. 

I must admit I am comparing this to last years alanya hotel (long beach alanya which was 5*) but honestly, it was very mediocre. It did the job but others I spoke to agreed on all above points. 

Cleaners will pretty much do a quick sweep, make bed, not a thorough clean. 

I wouldn’t recommend and I wouldn’t go back. It served its purpose but be mindful that there’s no ATM/Cashpoint at or near this hotel either so have cash! 

WiFi was on and off, worked then didn’t work. 

16th floor -sky bar - you pay extra for. Nothing at all going on up there, boring really.
