The artistshouse is located at a quiet street, with a tram stop and a supermarket (Migros) right in front. The guest receives the "Bern ticket" that allows the use of public transportation. Old town is quite near. Wifi worked well. The hostess (Cilgia) was attentive and friendly. However, one has to advise the time of arrival so that she can provide keys of the house and room. Furthermore, payment is only accepted in cash. Curtains of the bathroom and bedroom need to be improved.

Good choice

We stayed there in the Artistshouse with whole family (two daughters, 8 & 13) between 23 and 28 February 2015. We were offered the apartment on 

the top floor of the house, including own bathroom and kitchen. The flat was perfect and very conveniently located with respect to the Old Town 

of Berne. Actually, this is within walking distance from there, just across the river. However, the tramways in Berne were so convenient, the 

tram stop was 30m from the house and the public transport ticket was included in rent - so we were too lazy to make this 10 min walk:)

We enjoyed our visit very much. We sincerely recommend this apartment. We also would like to thank the host - she was very professional as the 

host and very amicable as a person.

Excellent for a family!

Absolutely great place to choose when coming to visit Bern! The host is a very polite, cheerful, understanding and friendly lady, the room was very nice and clean and the house is really close to a lot of beautiful places to visit in Bern! 
I had a very good experience and would most definitely go back there as soon as possible ;)

Great place in Bern!!

The Artistshouse is a three-storey home within walking distance from the centre of Berne and you don't have to be an artist to stay there. Both the colours and the decor are warm and cosy, and the communal kitchen/lounge is a great place to meet fellow travellers. It's very close to a supermarket and a tram stop, and since travel by tram is free for tourists in Berne, you soon learn how to use it. The owner is polite and helpful, with excellent English. I would recommend this place and look forward to returning.

Warm in winter

In the beginning of September 2014 I received a very "cordial welcome". I was kicked out from the Artistshouse Bed with Kitchen because I was late for 1 hour: instead of 10 a.m. I arrived at about 11 a.m. The lady-host (a painter) was inpolite, insensible, cruel, capricious, insane and I'm not sure she is not a drug addict...she was acting so nervous and inadequate. She proposed me 1 very expensive hotel downtown and when I said it was too expensive for me she replied: "it's your problems". I booked 3 nights in advance via Booking.com and suddenly I found myself in the street in a capital of one of the most expensive country in Europe. I went to a police station of Bern to write a report about my bad experience and I hope Cilgia Rageth won't be able to rent rooms anymore!!! Stay away from this disgusting place!
