We spent 3 nights in this family and we were very happy. The accommodation is a bit further from the beach but still in great availability and the distance is offset by a great price including an excellent breakfast. The accommodation is simple, in a room in the house of the host, it is a real homestay. Because of the location in the green, the mosquito repellent is a must. The room has a fan and a mosquito net, great wifi. In the bathroom we heard every sound from the bathroom next to the wall :-), but that did not bother us. If necessary, we used the kitchen of the owners. There is also the possibility to sit outdoors in the garden. During our stay there was a family with a small child, and it was very nice to have family members willingly involved with their help. They really have a warm relationship with the kids. Every morning we enjoyed a great breakfast. We're glad to come back here again!

amazing owners' hospitality and great breakfast

Our stay at the Golden Rose Guest House was perfect. The family was super hospitable. They made our stay super smooth and the breakfast is the best food I had in Sri Lanka. The owner cooks extraordinary well. And the price is more than fair for all what you get.
I totally recommend this place.
By the way, the photos are very old, the house has been refurbished and doesn't look like on the pictures. It's more stylish now 😃

Great value for money

We stayed here for one night and felt incredibly welcome by the lovely family here. Their breakfast was outstanding, amazing hospitality - they let us check out at 2pm as they didn’t have any booking that night in our room. The room is basic, but represents incredible value for the price we paid. The house is down an unlit street so either take a torch or tuk tuk when coming back in the dark. Would absolutely recommend to others.

We stayed here three nights and we couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and friendly homestay. It's a homestay rather than a guest house as you're literally staying in someone's house. The family were lovely and helped us with everything. They booked us on the whale tour which was ok but I wouldn't recommend it if you get motion sickness. Me and my boyfriend don't get sea sick but we spent 6 hours with our heads over a bag as did the rest of the boat. When we arrived back at our home stay the lovely lady of the house prepared us curries, fruit and tea. She also prepared us breakfast every morning. They were all very kind. All rooms have private bathrooms. When we left to go to yala national park the lady made sure we got on the correct public bus which was so nice of her. 

Only thing I can say is the rooms are far too hot even with a fan on. I would wake up sweating most mornings in Sri Lanka. 

I would 100% recommend this homestay as the family made our experience in Sri Lanka amazing. Thank you so much golden rose guest house for your caring family who looked after us. We enjoyed our stay.

A lovely family who go out of there way to look after you 

One of the best guest houses we stayed at during our 6 week holiday in Sri Lanka. The lady who runs it went above and beyond to the point of bringing some medicine home one day when she saw that my friend had a burn from an exhaust. Also cooked a delicious breakfast every day
