Once home to Dutch rulers this old fort town has been beautifully revamped to provide an apt fusion of modern retail set in old old charm. Its a great place for a short stay, shopping handicrafts and enjoy the rocky cliffs. A stroll through the dusky evening streets is an alluring experience. People are warm and welcoming. Perfect time to enjoy this place is around December.


Old world charm with modern cultural fusion

Nice little guesthouse in the centre of Galle Fort. Owner is a really nice man who is nice to talk with and who has interesting stories to tell. Rooms and lounge are cozy enough, and the bathroom is simple but nice.

Nice surprise!

Accommodation in Galle isn't cheap but this is well priced - it is basic, and it can be warm but there's fans. However toilets and showers very clean and efficient (only cold water but thats what you want because it's very hot). Common area good - honesty box for drinks and water. The highlight has to be the owner though - extremely welcoming and friendly and good for giving tips and advice for food places and things to do. Very trustworthy which is nice as a solo female traveller. Thanks for your hospitality Hassan. Would highly recommend this simple but ideally located and friendly hostel.

Good location, very friendly and helpful owner, just what I needed

I'm not sure how it compares to other accommodation in Galle, but it felt quite pricey. Having said that, it is located right in the middle of the fort, literally 2 mins from the lighthouse. Bunk beds are comfy and we were provided with clean white sheets. Wifi was very speedy. The owner was extremely chatty, friendly and helpful. I asked him for a recommendation of a place to eat and he pointed us in the direction of the amazing Indian Hut. He gave us lots of advice about how to get around and told my friends, who were travelling around Sri Lanka for longer, the best way to get across to the next destination. He left bottles of water out for us to take and told us to just leave money, for them, on the table. He provides tea and coffee and there is also a fridge. If you are in Sri Lanka to surf or would like to try surfing, about 5 mins by tuk tuk, there is a surf beach. Aside from it having quite a few gaps in the walls, resulting in tonnes of Mozzies (bring your repellent), I recommend this place.

Key location and lovely owner

Like all the reviews say. A very helpful and nice owner. I booked through Hostel world but unfortunately there was mean up on the app and the bed was not viable when I arrived. The owner was good enough find a place for me for the 2 nights. I went in for a bit an the place has very nice rustic look and feel. Definitely next time.

Nice owner

It's a 2 bedroom apartment converted into a hostel.

It's cheap so you can't expect much. The location, shower and WiFi were great. Though it's still quite old so there's no AC and it wasn't the cleanest hostel we've been in.

'Twas a very average place all in all.
