We booked this room last minute as it was the only place still available in the fort in our budget price range. Amazing location right in the middle of the fort town on one of the best streets, friendly hosts and lovely room with aircon. The balcony and rooftop full of flowers were gorgeous. Not sure why it doesn’t have better reviews when it was similar quality to other guesthouses in a similar price range across Sri Lanka, but in a more expensive area! 

Pleasantly surprised, good value room with best location 

The rooms were very spacious, with a working AC and fan. The beds were comfortable, and the plumbing was working. There is a nice rooftop garden where you can enjoy a king coconut to beat the eat. It is run by a family that lives in the house. They were very helpful and made us feel at home. The father and son also offer tuk-tuk and taxi rides. Make sure to make a deal about the tuk-tuk fare and shake on it. The son drove us from Galle to Ella for a decent price. One thing that did bother us at first was that the door didn't lock. The family monitors all the people that enter, so that made us feel more at ease.

Comfortable rooms and friendly hosts

Nothing good to share except its good location. We booked this guesthouse via booking.com, but when we got there, the staff looked surprised and told us he was not informed. I booked one quadruple and one triple room, but the staff told us they didn't have those room types. Double room is the room they have. We turned out to squeeze in two small double rooms. The rooms are not as beautiful and modern as they are shown in the pictures. The room is small. Door lock is broken. No water comes out from the basin faucet. No clean towels for the second day. Since we do not stay in the room type we requested, I ask for refund but they refused. I feel regretful to stay in this place. I would rather find somewhere else outside the old town and have better sleep quality.

Location is the only reason to stay here

My room was quite small but it was next to the balcony with a view over the street. 
The family was very nice people and very helpful. 
Very good working WiFi.
They don't serve any food but restaurants are easy to find. 
They have a little shop in the house with cold drinks and snacks.
Don't look for luxury. It's a nice homestay  and I can imagine to stay there again.

 Clean and nice 

Let me start with the positives! Air con and location are great, thats it. 

When walking in we found we had to go through their living room and shop to get to the guest house however we were informed of this by someone on the street because no one was actually downstairs. 

When getting into our room it was nice to have the air con (positive) and the room was close to the center of the fort so lots around. 

Then we noticed things, the shower is pathetic, barely a trickle and it's hanging right over the toilet so no matter what you do everything gets soaked. There is a wooden door to the bathroom with a ten inch gap at the bottom all the way along which is very unpleasant. 
The toilet itself is broke, whenever you flush it the water spills out the bottom, unhygienic and gross. 
The bed is also broke, when you sat or dared to move on this it made the loudest freaking sound you've ever heard and this happens every time you move so we have barely slept in two nights. The room itself is too small to move in and the sheets were completely ripped so that's nice...
Absolutely no breakfast is offered here and she tried to get us to check out at 10am until we informed her booking said eleven
Absolute rip off and I would advise anyone not to stay here. Worst place I stayed in the two weeks in Sri Lanka.
