Sheen Home Stay is a great place. We are a couple with two kids (10 and 12). We had a wonderful welcome from the hosts and we received all the assistance and information we needed. The area is quiet and safe.The property has a pleasant, well maintained garden surrounded by a wall and a gate which is locked for the night. At night, we watched glowworms in the garden (it was the end of August). The meals were excellent and plentiful. Whatever we couldn't eat, was packed by the hosts into lunch boxes for us to eat later. When we were staying there, the ground floor rooms were available while the upstairs rooms were still being decorated. The room had a fan, a sizeable bed and a wardrobe. We had a nice view of the garden. The bathroom was shared. The beach is a short stroll away from the place. The host showed us the best shortcuts through the forest to get to the beach and to the town. We got a tuk-tuk for 200 RS to get there from the bus station. If you're lucky, you can get to see the monitor lizards living in the garden (they were a hit with the kids). I'd like to go back one day.

Our pleasant two nights at Sheen Home Stay

Sheen home stay is a hidden, unspoiled getaway situated a stone drop from the most perfect, empty white sand beach surrounded by palm trees. We stayed 5 days and still felt it was far too short to enjoy the surroundings and the warmest hospitality of our host, who quickly became like family.
 
Mr Harrison and his wife Padmini are sincere, considerate, caring, very endearing host. Every day we got spoiled with home cooked meals, lovingly prepared with organic ingredients from their own garden.

The room was very clean and equipped with a comfortable, thick mattress and very secure.

Afternoon tea was unforgettable for its peace, colours and parading local wildlife such as Mongoose, iguanas, birds and monkeys too.

We loved this place so much that we have amended our travel plans and spend our final four days with our newly adopted family.

Best home stay ever

Sheen Home Stay is awesome. A great house with beautiful and clean rooms, an unbelievable garden with many fruits and spices, the best food we had in Sri Lanka and super friendly hosts, who make you feel like being a part of the family. If you want to visit Balapitiya und it's beautiful and lonely beaches, spend your nights here. Not easy to find, but worth to look for it.
Just take the A2 from Ambalangoda to Balapitiya and turn left after you reached the "Ice Age Hotel", 
THE example for friendliness and hospitality.
Beautiful beach and garden, nice rooms and best breakfast.

It's a new place with extremely nice owners who will do everything to make you feel at home. The beach is some 50 m away and is completely empty. It's a comfortable, family-like place that you will remember for a long time.
