The accommodation is in the centre of the city, so everything is easily accessible. The owners are extremely kind, and you will have some amazing food if you decide to eat at their place as well! The room is spacious with good airconditioning and a big mosquito net.

Nice stay for your visit in Anuradhapura

Do not expect cocktail bar and infinity pool at this resort! It is a modest, and modestly priced guesthouse perched high on top of a building in central Anuradhapura. With a lovely garden/terrace to sit in it felt miles from the noise and traffic. The rooms while quite small are very comfortable and clean. The really great thing about this stay though is the hosts, Nadeeka and Kalum. They really make you feel at home and Nadeeka's cooking is so good - we did not have a better meal anywhere in Sri Lanka.
Good points: the oasis above the streets, the care, kindness and wonderful food.
Bad points: avoid if you don't like stairs.

A small city oasis with wonderful hosts

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed delicious homemade dinner and breakfast. We stayed in the room at the back of the hotel which was very quiet even though hotel is situated centrally. Roof terrace is a nice large space to relax. Very friendly hosts. Owner took us around Minthale and was very knowledgeable about history and Buddhism. Worth asking him to guide you round all the historical sites. Worth every penny.

Friendly home stay and great tour guide

Perfect place in Anuradhapura for family staying. Safely and clean. Calm environment ,
Our room was pretty big. Clean. The balcony/view  was awesome ! 
The bed was incredible. Comfy. 
The bathroom was good. Hot water. Fresh towels.

Perfect place in Anuradhapura

Great little homestay in the centre of town with wonderfully helpful hosts. The accommodation is up three flights of stairs, but once at the top you'll find a peaceful terrace covered in plants. The perfect place to hang out and to eat dinner. And when it comes to dinner you really must eat the food here, it's simply wonderful. My room had a balcony and although it was on the main road, I found it peaceful enough and easy to sleep (and I would consider myself a relatively light sleeper). Don't hesitate to book.

Eat the food!

We stayed here for two nights. The owner is very kind and helpful, upon checking in we were given a free fruit juice and he explained all about everything there is to see and do in Anuradhapura. In the evening he took us to some of the stupa’s and temples where the daily evening ceremonies were happening, to a viewpoint over the lake and some other places, all for free. During this he explained a lot about the places and Buddhism. 
You can also rent bikes here to bike around the city. The owner also arranged for a tuktuk driver who took us to Mihintale and told us a lot about everything we saw here, really recommended!
The food here is amazing, they make a different selection of curry every evening which tasted so good!
The rooms are clean and comfortable, the shower is good and the WiFi works well. The rooftop lounge area is a great place to sit and relax. 


Kind owners, great food

We were somewhat horrified when our car pulled up at the car park the bottom of the building. It looked like a slum area. My husband walked up the 61 steps to the top floor and found a very different world.  Up there it was fabulous.  A wonderful roof top area. Callum and his wife Navika own the accommodation. Our room was very nice indeed. Very clean. Navika's cooking was to die for and Callum helped us so much with local knowledge.

A surprise awaited us.

Amidst the busy whizzing of the city centre sits this secluded little delight. A small hotel run by a passionate family. It’s only 5 rooms or so big. All are clean and in order, having all expected amenities. 

That what sets it apart is their dedication to be of help and service. The owner, obviously excited and warmed by the city’s rich history, set out a detailed program with which we could explore the ancient city and Mihintale. But not just for us. With us. Tailored to our time, budget, and style. 

The food was something special. For our 2 night stay we and ALL other guests loyally and gratefully checked in for dinner :) This is the home you seek from where to base your Anuradhapura adventure. Guaranteed!

Hidden Oasis

We stayed one night here . The owner and his wife are fantastically helpful and the home cooked food we enjoyed here we was some of the tastiest  we had in Sri Lanka. It is well located and super clean . Make sure you visit the temple at 6pm to enjoy the ceremony, the owner recommended it and organised a tuk tuk . It is well worth a visit.

Great place to stay

I’m not usually a fan of hectic cities, so I took pause when I arrived at Sacred City as it’s right in the middle of it all. However, it’s so comfortably situated in the top floor of a very tall building, creating a nice oasis away from all the hustle and bustle. But this aside, the attraction of this amazing place is without doubt the customer care of the owner, and the fantastic traditional food that his wife cooks. Together they’re a  powerful team, that creates an unforgettable experience. 5 stars all the way
