Sandos El Greco Hotel - Adults Only

This is a superb hotel in a superb location. Every aspect of my stay here was excellent and it was hard to leave. I had a single room high up and far away from the poolside but got the evening sun which was a delight. The room itself had excellent quiet and efficient air conditioning, a fridge, safe, TV and balcony. There was a good sized bed, plenty of storage and overall, plenty of room. The bathroom was shower only but again spacious clean and in good condition. The bars and restaurants were also very good and the choice of food and drink was excellent. There was so much choice at every meal time which included the two live cooking stations. I am neither vegan nor vegetarian but I did partake in some delicious soups and salads to accompany my carnivorous main courses. The wine selection in the restaurant was the best I have experienced. The a la carte restaurant is excellent and was a real highlight of my stay. It has to be booked in advance but this was not a problem. Public areas are bright and clean with friendly staff throughout and the bar a very relaxing place to sit and read. The pool area is quite busy during the day and provides the evening entertainment - also busy. There is a bar and snack here also. The snacks are the usual pizza, hot dogs and burgers but hot and tasty. Now the “dreaded steps down to the beach” - yes there are twenty or more steps down but I fail to see the problem. I am a 70+ arthritic pensioner with mobility and heart problems and I was not too bothered. Just take it slowly, get away from the overcrowded pool and enjoy the four super beaches in the resort (two right on your doorstep and two more in either direction less than a mile away). Portinax is a small resort and much quieter because of that. There are bars and shops on the promenade below the hotel and more up in the town centre, a short walk away. There are buses and some very good excursions leaving from here. There are also boat trips leaving from the promenade. You can’t get further away from the airport than Portinax but with the excellent roads now in Ibiza transfer times are much less than advertised by the travel company. Finally, the staff in all parts of the hotel and particularly reception were friendly, efficient and very welcoming. I would love to return to this hotel.
