Room Mate Collection Alba, Madrid

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay at the Room Mate Alba. As many have said, you could not ask for a better location -- we walked everywhere and had no need for cabs or mass transit. The staff at the hotel was wonderful, with special mention for Barbara (especially) and Felicia. Both were incredibly kind and helpful and a pleasure just to say hello to when leaving or returning to the hotel. One notable point: We arrived early in the morning after a long flight and asked if we could leave our bags at the hotel while walking around. Barbara not only quickly agreed, but checked to see if our room was ready. It wasn't -- that was perfectly fine as it would have been an unexpected bonus if it were available that early in the day. We related we would go for a walk and she offered to contact us when the room was free. Shortly after noon, got her text that we could check in. While the room was not large (we booked the lowest room category so expected this), it was comfortable with a good bed and incredibly quiet (as we had requested). As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever staying in such a quiet hotel room (we did not face the street). Breakfast was a buffet and ample. We enjoyed it (and the personnel working there were nice as well) , but the food selection did not vary much day-to-day. There are some nearby places if you prefer breakfast out. All-in-all, I would happily return to the Room Mate Alba if in Madrid again.
