This is a great hotel for many reasons. In particular, the hosts were great - extremely friendly and helpful, and full of knowledge about the area such as the best beaches and restaurants. 

We had two identical rooms, quite large, with balconies facing over the pool and the mountains beyond (a wonderful view), and another small window on the other side through which you could see the sea. In fact the views everywhere from the property are amazing. The pool is great and large, and the pool area has lots of space for lying on sun loungers. Breakfast was continental and pretty decent, including cold meats, cheese, scrambled eggs and croissants. 

A couple of small downsides - first it is a little way out of Llanes so other than a good cafe/restaurant, which is walkable, you have to drive everywhere. Second, it was quite expensive - each room was €190 per night. This may be because they could sleep three people, and we were only two per room, but still, that is a lot of money for a small hotel in the middle of nowhere. 

However overall I would still strongly recommend this hotel, mainly because of the wonderful views and lovely owners.

Lovely hotel, great views - but pricey!

The facilities (large comfortable rooms, heated swimming pool, lovely gardens, extensive breakfast buffet, etc) in addition to the personal attention and care provided by the owners makes this an ideal location for a holiday retreat with children.

Perfect for relaxing family holiday

Nice family run hotel. Mostly freqeuented by Spanish families. Top swimming pool. Nice setting in small village, 10 min drive from LLanes with shops, bars, restaurants and beaches.
Good breakfast. Nice dinner for a very reasonable price. 
Very motivated host who will explain all there's to see around Parres.

Quiet family run hotel

Small friendly hotel, set in beautiful surroundings, woke up to the goats with their bells jingling each morning going off for milking. Lovely outside heated pool that was a little on the chilly side but well used. Lovely gardens with plenty for children do. I was a little concerned that there was no air conditioning but it was fine. We ate at a lovely little bar each night that was only a short distance away. Breakfast was at the hotel and mostly continental in style.

Lucky find

Everything you ask for(and pay for...) is being treated as a favour to you. 
"It is the last time I'm making you a coffee!"
Said the owner, Anjel. "This is your third this morning! There is a bar one kilometre down the road. I need to rest a bit!!"
???... Well this is the last time I'm paying him for "his" coffee(I even brought my own!from Italy since I don't like the Spanish coffee and the long shelf life milk they use). 
Pool only good this about this place.

UNWELCOMING!

This will be the 12 year visiting La Quintana del Cuera every summer. After working for a year the best thing can happened to you is to relax away from the noise in a peacefull are full of facillities.

As soon as you arrive to La Quintana, Loles and Angel the owners, wellcome you like if you are in your own house, and anything you need they try to acomodate. The rooms are in perfect shape, quite big 30sqm and the views to the summing pool and the mountains of Cuera are unveliabable.!!!!!

Breakfast is good and full of choises, ham, cheasess, eggs, toasts, and bakery.

They have a very big swimmming pool and it is conditioned. there is no pool like this in the region and the surrounding areas are good for us to relax and good for the children to play around different games.

Dinner is very good with different selection of food everyday and you chose your meal in the morning. Loles cooks fantastic meals to perfection , rabo de toro, salmon encebollado, vieiras con jamon, carrileras ibericas, bonito del norte en salsa, 

After dinner the best is to relax next to the pool with a gintonic and down the covered porsche to enjoy the peace and the calm of the nigth. Back in the room you sleep all nigth long as there is no noise at all and the confort of the mattres makes you sleep like a baby again.

This is the 12 years we spend in this Hotel and I wil recomend to everyone that travels in the region.and it is very good value for money.

12 Years Visiting la Quintana del Cuera !!!!!

We spent 3 nights at The Quintana. They were one of the few places that could accommodate 3 children. There were 2 rooms - one with a double bed for us and 3 singles in the lounge. The bathroom was an ensuite off our bedroom and quite small. It was very hot in the room when we arrived but there is no air conditioning or fans. However we were comfortable. We had the most amazing view of the mountains from the lounge and if we looked out the bathroom window we could see the sea.
We had to choose our dinner on arrival - 2 choices for the adults but no choice at all for the children. My little boy can't eat fish and on the first night it was tuna pasta - they said it was no problem to change it to pasta and sausage - that was great I said. However, when it turned up that night it was plain pasta (no oil / butter) and a dehydrated frankfurter - not impressed. Our food was plain and small portions! I would've preferred to have had the option to have eaten out in Llanes - but half board was compulsory. The dinner did improve but the desert was the best - almond tart was delicious. 
Breakfast was OK - some hot food - a lack of fruit! Melon in the evening but none in the morning - just over ripe apples and sometimes kiwis. 
We had some good suggestions for day trips out. Llanes was lovely - some beautiful buildings and good restaurants. Poo beach (yes there is a place called Poo!) - was beautiful too - very Anglesey / Cornwall - very safe for the children. We visited the Cuveas del Soplao too and Colunga to see the real dinosaur footstep. We had a lovely time in the area and will probably return to see more of the Picos.
Frieda the dog and the swimming pool were our childrens favourites! If they're happy then we're happy!
Unfortunately we had no balcony or sitting area of our own so we had no where to dry any of our swimming / beach things. 
Also - some of the staff (not the owners) seemed much more pleasant to the Spanish families - especially at mealtimes. There was a handyman tidying up one morning too that kept telling the children - not to go near the dog and not to play on the grass - it had my daughter in tears.
The final thing was the price - we paid 286 euros for the 5 of us for one night. This was an expensive rate - for that we expected far more than we received - did we pay more than the other guests?
Friendly owner - friendly dog - beautiful location but overpriced
