This was a perfect find for our holidays. There are two independent villas around a lovely pool right next to a golf course. We chose a modern style villa, the other was more traditional. Both are well equipped with full kitchen.

The location was perfect, because we were looking for somewhere quiet and stylish but didnt want to drive far away into the mountains. This is a very different option to the tourist resorts that you find everywhere in Gran Canaria. The space was classy, comfortable and the owners and maintenance boy did everything to make our stay a pleasurable one.

So you would have a lot of space just for yourself, as the villa is about double the size of a normal hotel room... Plus the surroundings are a bonus. and the pool is only shared by two villas.
At that time  we were the only guests so it was all for ourselves.

Besides, there are some really nice restaurants walking distance. And some nice beaches 5 minutes away in the car.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it or use it again if we are in Gran Canaria.

My husband and I spent a week holidaying at Villa Los Naranjos, having booked the more modern of the two properties advertised. We chose this property (about 10 mins drive north from the airport along the motorway, exit 6B) because of its location, near Telde in the north eastern part of the island, well removed from the main tourist areas and, as such, a car is a necessity. The directions to the villa (downloaded from Booking.com's website) were very inadequate and it was easy to miss the entrance to the property. It is better to follow the signs for El Cortijo golf club and then be aware that the villas are located behind a perimeter wall with access being gained via an intercom system through a security gate. On arrival we were warmly greeted by the lovely Maria who showed us into the villa and presented us with baskets of lemons and oranges picked from her well-tended garden. 
The open-plan villa was welcoming, spacious and very clean, with thoughtful touches added - flowers, candles, complimentary toiletries, literature and some essential supplies to tide us over our first night there (complimentary bottle of Tempranillo, bottled water, beer, milk, cereals, pasta, tinned tuna to name but a few!). The bath was huge and made of stone - a real feature! However, the villa is so open-plan that there are no doors separating the bathing and toilet areas from the living and sleeping quarters! This was not an issue for us but might be for others. The kitchen was well-equipped but there was a shortage of working surfaces. The double bed (2 large singles attached together) was extremely comfortable. I did query where the air con unit was and Maria told us that there wasn't any (despite it being advertised as having it on Booking.com's website) and added that we wouldn't need it. How true! The weather for the whole week in our part of the island was very temperamental with rain most nights and also rather chilly. Unfortunately there was no method of heating the villa nor drying the towels (we only had a set each for the whole week, it would have been nice to have had them changed at least once). We subsequently found that there was a 3" gap between the roof and exterior wall, extending halfway around the property to allow for air flow, and small spaces between the exposed stonework which explained the draught you could feel in certain parts of the accommodation. Not only did this contribute to the general chill but it allowed mosquitoes and other flying insects to enter at night when the lights were switched on - fortunately we went prepared with electric plug-ins so, if you don't want to be bitten, take appropriate precautions! 
The property overlooks the neighbouring El Cortijo golf course with its palm trees and pond and is home to different species of birds - we saw a Kestrel, Hoopoes, Egret, Muscovy ducks, Collared doves (which actually mobbed the Kestrel one morning!) Blackbirds to name but a few and were treated to a nightly chorus from the resident frogs! By virtue of the modern villa's position, the people from the other, more rustic, villa had to walk past ours as they came and went - I suppose this could be a bit of a privacy issue, given the wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows! There is a peaceful outdoor seating area beside the villa with ample furniture and a lovely blue mosaic swimming pool is shared by the two villas but alas, due to the weather, we never took advantage of it! There is free WiFi but unfortunately the signal is weak and therefore pretty temperamental.There is plenty of free, secure parking on site. 
We enjoyed our stay and managed to see pretty much the whole of the island, including the stunning less-frequented west coast scenery and travelling roads with endless hairpin bends to access the breathtaking mountainous interior. Los Naranjos makes an excellent base for touring the island with its easy access to the motorway and the convenience of a nearby large shopping precinct (Las Terazzas) yet it is sufficiently removed from the usual hustle and bustle associated with accommodation on offer in the livelier southern resorts.

A perfect hideaway, yet close to everything

Tranquil location away from the tourist areas but a car is a necessity!

We (family of four) spent 2 weeks at the independent villa (2 bedrooms), located about 100 meter away from the main villa and the pool. It looked like a caretaker's house, not really suitable as a holiday place. The "tranquil" location was unfortunately not that tranquil after all. The villa is located just 20 meters away from a restaurant organising parties and weddings at weekends (Fridays and Saturdays). The life music was on till 3 am and we were not able to get a good night sleep even with the windows closed. 

The general maintenance of the house was poor, just to mention a broken down toilet, doors that wouldn't close etc. The pool area was dirty and the pool badly maintained, as all our white swimwear became yellow after swimming in the cloudy water. 

At arrival we were welcomed by the owners, unfortunately, they left after a day and we never saw them again. The caretaker, living with his family at the main house, was mostly unavailable, slow in resolving the numerous complaints and never asked whether everything was ok. Our house was never cleaned in those two weeks, they only changed the towels every 2-3- days. The owner was only available by whatsapp, but showing no interest in asking whether things were fine. 

All in all, not worth the money.
