Caveats to this review: I am an American living in Hong Kong and this is the only guesthouse Hanok (traditional Korean Home) I have ever stayed in...but so happy that I did!

I booked Suni’s guesthouse Hanok for me as a solo traveler.  I chose it because I wanted to experience Korean culture and get to know the people.  I also wanted to be close, but not within Myeongdong or any other large area.  Where her home is located is on a street that seems to me like a mini Myeongdong with a neighborhood feel.

Here are the reasons why this stay gets 5 stars:

1.  Hospitality: Suni is the most gracious, kind, and helpful lady.  She is communicative and uses WhatsApp so I can contact her by phone and text.  I lost my phone on a public bus in Seoul and she called the bus company to locate it.  She has worked as an information officer at the Seoul Station and is used to helping people from all over the world in many languages.  Lastly, she picked at the airport bus stop and dropped me off there this morning WITH a homemade breakfast for my flight!!!  

2.  Location: Her home is within a 5-8 min walk to bus stops and trains.  She is off line 4 which takes you straight to Dongdaenum and Myeongdong.  Close to many other attractions as well.

3.  Hanok: Suni’s Home was built in the 1940’s and boasts many original features as well as new bathrooms.  This is a traditional home, so like in a Ryokan in Japan, you will sleep on the floor in your room on traditional bedding.  I asked for another mattress on my second night because I like more padding.  Suni was very accommodating.  Lastly, she makes you breakfast every morning at your requested time and will sit and chat with you if you like to help you find out more about you and where you would like to visit.  

My trip to Seoul was made so special by choosing to stay at Guesthouse Suni!  I joke with my husband that she is my Korean Mother!
