Atlantic View

We celebrated New Years holiday at this hotel, and must say it is outstanding. Excellently located with a view to the sea and table mountain and with great rooms and facilities. The staff were second to none and everything was done to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was great and the presentation one of the most beautiful we have ever seen. The breakfast table served on your own terrace outside your room is decorated and laid out like a painting and tastes even better. We will certainly come back, again and again.

We stayed in unit 6 on the top floor - which offered a beautifully wide patio with views out over the bay. The views are truly spectacular. Our home in Durban SA has sea views - but this was something else. Literally looking down on creation - watching dolphins, seals and whales swim by. The unit was very well appointed and the linens, fixtures and fittings are luxurious. Top notch for the self-catering family - including washing machine, dryer and dishwasher in the kitchen. You will not be disappointed.

If you are a discerning traveller, one who notices and appreciates the subtle things within an establishment that elevates it above the competition then continuing reading. 

My girlfriend and I, not huge fans of the November weather  in the UK wanted to spend a week away from the from the turning leaves and shortening daylight hours. We decided upon Cape Town because of the  very positive feedback from  our friends,  and in April of this year set about seeking a suitable place to stay, something high end but not as anonymous as a large hotel chain.

The Atlantic View isn't for everyone, its warm intimate feel is created by limiting the number of guest suites to just 9; this goes someway to create a feeling of exclusivity, you are carried the rest of the way by the first class service immaculately delivered by the team. 

In true boutique style each of the rooms are uniquely furnished, although we only experienced 2 of the rooms; this hotel / guest house has been created from 2  adjoining  properties with the most wonderful view of the Atlantic and CampsBay itself, whilst nestling in the shelter of table mountain behind.

Our room, named the Rock room was very spacious, beautifully decorated with African themed art over looking one of the two infinity pools, The view from the room was courtesy of a wall of glass which opened onto the pool side, a side door granted access to the sun loungers and occasion table should you brave the fierce South African sun. Overall the room was fitted to a high standard including IPhone dock and large flat Screen and free access to Wifi ( be warned the wifi in SA is generally slower than here at home - but fine for checking email and posting photo's on your favourite social media space) The en-suite  bathroom / wet-room was a pleasure and equipped as you might expect in a five star place.
Each evening between  7pm  and 9pm you are invited into the lounge to enjoy an endless stream of complementary  gourmet canapés and wines, and if you choose a chance to mingle with the other guests. During our stay there were guests from Canada,UK Switzerland and Ghana.

As part of our stay we had trips to the wine regions and to Cape Point arranged, chauffeured around in a luxury car driven by a very knowledgeable guide who really did make us feel as if nothing was too much trouble greatly enriched those 2 experiences.

Being what you might describe as  foodies we were pleased to see a number of restaurant recommendations made by Atlantic View, these places offering some of the best food in South Africa, ranging from basic but high quality seafood at Codfather to Molecular Gastronomic cuisine at the Green House, for which the Atlantic View were able to secure tables at short notice for us. 

So why is this place not for everyone? Well its not the place to stay if you expect 24 hour room service or a bar to drink the night away, it does offer a limited but excellent room service menu until 11pm, but with some of the best steak and seafood minutes way we chose not to eat in, with the exception of  a light lunch one afternoon.
We were made to feel very special by the staff, whom were always helpful, friendly and on-hand.

I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone, but recommend thorough reading of the hotel website to ensure what they excellently offer is what you want from a holiday.

Perched above Camps Bay, Atlantic View is a comfortable quiet boutique hotel. We stayed in the Rock Room which has some interesting features and its own reserved sun loungers beside the pool. The evening Cocktail Hour was agreat attraction with hospitality wines and canapes, providing an opportunity to socialise with other guests.The no children policy ensures a peaceful and relaxing stay for couples.

Room with a View

A boutique 5 Star Stay

The view from Atlantic view is great and the crashing of the waves surely the best lullaby.  The service was average. The staff did seem a bit pompous to me. The breakfast is okay but one morning we got a drink they described as Fanta juice. It was Fanta! I did not expect to be served a fizzy drink at such an establishment for breakfast. The website surely sells it for more than it is. We had the best room in th place but did not have the personal infinity pool promised. That pool was free to anyone and visible to all. Not private as we were led to believe. I also do not appreciate that children are not allowed. 

Great view

We never visited this hotel because our circumstances changed and we booked through booking.com with free cancellation. When we cancelled within the free period the hotel (who had already taken our money) withheld the equivalent of £100 for various admin charges to make the refund. Despite escalating this we got no joy. Unless you are 100% sure of your itinerary don’t assume free cancellation exists because in my experience it didn’t and it was misrepresented.
