This is a great little place!  A quick Uber to the waterfront, and set in a quiet residential road, it's a proper oasis of peace and quiet (apart from the squawking Ibis, maybe!!) We were in the ground floor room, looking out over the pool.  The bed was really comfortable.  Storage is minimal, but that was ok.  Nice shower. The outside area is really pretty with plenty of greenery and places to lounge around and also have breakfast, when the weather allows.  Tino, the host, is a great guy, full of useful tips and recommendations and he really helped us out a lot when we had a series of problems with our hire car (Avis, if you need a non-recommendation!)  Breakfast is lovely, fab rolls from a local bakery and both continental and cooked options.  Thoroughly recommend.

An oasis of calm

The Cape Standard is a small, four room boutique hotel tucked away on the edge of Sea Point in Cape Town. Over the years I have stayed in this hotel about 6 times on that tells you just what a special and delightful place it is. Located on a very quiet cul-de-sac with adequate safe free car parking the hotel is within a 3-minute walk of the promenade and has a delightful, informal breakfast area set around a small swimming pool. It is an oasis of calm in an otherwise busy city. Our large bedroom had a comfortable double bed, good wardrobe storage, a flat screen TV, excellent wi-fi, tea and coffee facilities, a fridge with a mini bar, a sofa and a small desk for working. The room led out onto the swimming pool area where there were sun loungers. What makes this place so special is not only the excellent quality of the accommodation and the convenient location (the wonderful open air Sea Point sea point swimming pools are about a mile away) but also the personal welcome from the owner David and his very efficient and personable manager, Tino. I have stayed at many hotels around the world on this one excels in the personal welcome and attention that you receive. It was and will remain my ‘go to’ hotel in Cape Town and I unreservedly recommend it to you.

Fabulous boutique hotel!

This place is unbelievable! We stayed for 4 nights prior to a cruise out of Cape Town.
Tino and David were exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble and we loved the fact that the Cape Standard was small and friendly.
Location is perfect, walking distance to the Waterfront in 20 minutes. Rooms are very well appointed, we stepped off our patio area straight into the lovely pool.
Breakfast was fantastic lots of choice and great quality. 
We will most certainly be coming back here on our next visit to Cape Town. Thank you from Vicki & Rob

Fantastic little haven in the city

We stayed at the Cape Standard for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer - it's a lovely place. David and Tino were so helpful at recommending places to go, and we appreciated being able to keep our luggage safely there for the day after we checked out. Breakfast was great each morning. The room was lovely, had everything we needed and was spotless. The candle was also a nice touch! Thanks, hope to come back one day. 

Lovely place to stay

What a little gem in a great location. 
We had a brilliant 4 night stay. The room was well appointed with a fabulous shower, huge bed and beautifully decorated. 
Paddington and Tino made our stay truly memorable and were so kind and helpful; nothing was too much trouble. 
We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this guest house and will definitely stay again.

We spent four nights here and I wish we had spent longer. David and his staff were gorgeous. Professional and attentive without being intrusive. The pool area was quiet and relaxing. The location was easy for the shoreline and the city. Breakfast was excellent

Little oasis

Small and calm residence with a very personal care.
Our room was very nice: big, very clean with a small kitchen and green balcony. 
We also loved the pool. 
The Cape Standard is just a perfect oase close to Capetown, stadium and Waterfront!
We‘ve been there for 13 days and everything was just perfect!

Top stay in Cape Town 

I would definitely recommend to stay at Cape Standard! The location is great and the hosts are sooo friendly and nice! Its a very peaceful and green place to stay. Great breakfast as well and the rooms are beautiful. 

Great stay!!

This guesthouse is located in Green Point, within easy walking distance of Sea Point, 20 minutes to the lighthouse - a pick-up/drop off point for the popular sight-seeing bus and other tours. The room was comfortable, with handy muliti-sockets, so you won't need adaptors.  The balcony was delightful, the perfect place to sit out and have our complimentary evening sherry, overlooking the garden. The garden is the star of the show, bamboo and willow surrounding the pool lending a lovely tropical atmosphere. You could comfortably spend all day out there with a good book. That's also where you will take your tasty breakfast, with the myriad of colourful native birds serenading you.

What really makes the place stand out from the crowd, however are the guys who run the place, Paddington and Tino. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they will happily organise any restaurant bookings or transfers for you. They do it with a charm and warmth that means that feel that your may have arrived as guests, but you leave as friends. 

Top tip, book direct with Paddington or Tino and they will give you a good discount on the third-party prices quoted on-line.
