Ten  minutes walk from the railroad station(good explanation and map on the hostel site ),the entrance is at the back of number 9,Sportivny  St.as often in Russia,not right on the street.
A bit worn out but clean,two  bathrooms , one day excursions to Okhlon,Listvyanka for those on a tight schedule  are offered . English speaking staff can also book bus tickets for Okhlon .

Good hostel

The Trans-Sib hostel is perfectly placed for those with an early train to catch from the train station (a 10 minute walk away).

Whilst the hostel itself is quite hard to find, once found the hostel staff were incredibly helpful and informative.

Whilst the interior furnishings were a bit dated, the hostel has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Would happily stay here again if passing through Irkutsk.

Friendly Hostel near Train Station

This is a no frills hostel with a super friendly owner - Dasha. She makes it - really helpful, and she speaks English.

The Internet is a bit hard to connect to but fine once you get online. The rooms are cosy and very clean. There's a nice living room/kitchen to hang out. And it's only about five mins walk from the train station, so it's v handy if you have an early connection. 

Clean, friendly, convenient

We stayed here for one night between our trip to Olkhon Island and continuing on the Trans Sib in the morning and chose this hostel purely due to its proximity to the train station. There was such an odd atmosphere here - the owner lived in the flat opposite but spent all of her time in the reception (which was in the same room as the kitchen and lounge), so we just felt like we were intruding on her home and couldn't properly relax. She also wouldn't give us a front door key to the block - so when we went to the supermarket we couldn't get back in, since the buzzer wasn't working. We then had to search online to get the phone number for reception and ring (painfully expensive on a UK sim!) to be let in. So all in all it was fine for a crash pad for 1 night but I wouldn't recommend it for any longer.

Ok but not great

This place is very difficult to find. Going into town is easy, you can catch a tram but finding this place coming back is hard. I usually got a taxi and even the taxi driver found it hard to find the place when I gave him the address in Russian. Not sure if I would recommend this place for a solo female traveler, though the owner is friendly and easy going. I was alone in the hostel for the duration of my stay.
