We loved our stay in this very quaint, comfortable and charming villa/lodge. The grounds were beautiful and the room was simple but elegant. Breakfast was provided and it had a nice assortment of options. We really liked that they also had a refrigerator for quests to grab a beer or wine and pay on the honor system. The walk into the main part of Sao Vicente would have been possible but a little too far unless you were wanting more exercise after hiking all day!  The view of the mountains surrounding the lodge/villa was wonderful. We would definitely stay here again.

Very quaint/charming place to stay

Ruben is a great coach. Methodical, patient and encouraging. 
We had 4 trainings and after each one we rode better and better.
Ruben is very friendly and gave us many useful tips about the surfing and the island.
I can recommend his surf school to anyone who is thinking about catching the waves .

First surf experience

Very nice host et beautiful garden. Very quiet and nice to stay there. Cosy room with a view on the garden and mountain. Close to the center of Saõ Vicente, by car or by foot, so very practice for the restaurants.

Very Nice Guest house

We had a wonderful stay at the North Coast Guest House! The property is paradise like (especially the place with the hammock - great for a good read and relaxing), the house beautiful (very thoughtful decorated, good equipped kitchen, honest bar and the possibility for doing your laundry if needed) and the owners friendly, courteous and charming (awesome recommendations for eating out). The room was clean, cosy and had an astonishing view on the mountains. Breakfast was a continental, very tasty and served in a welcoming community room. Ruben even offers surf lessons (!), which my husband enjoyed very much. He explained all the basics well, was attentive and made it a fun experience! We highly recommend this little gem! We didn't miss anything. We are already thinking of coming back. Loved it. 

Little Paradise

We stayed at North Coast for 4 nights.
Very relaxed and laid back. The first time I went overseas and really relaxed.

Spacious rooms with wooden floors.
The lounge had a tv ,hi-fi and books to read with a honesty bar.

In Sao Vicente you need a car to drive to town because it is quite a steep walk.

Breakfast is included with a kitchen to prepare your lunch and dinner or you can go to the restaurants at the seafront.

Ruben is a sincere honest host that goes out of his way to make your stay memorable.

Felt like home.

The North Coast Guest House is a truly exceptional place with a beautiful garden and stunning mountain views. Ruben is a friendly host willing to help at any time. The room and bathroom were simply furnished but clean. Breakfasts were always tasty with fresh food. There is no heating in the room. When you come from a trip in a rainy day and your  clothes are wet you can use a hair dryer or  dryer machine in the kitchen .

Nice place

We spent three nights here and really enjoyed it. Ruben and Andreia are wonderful, welcoming hosts who made us feel very at home. Their dog was exceptionally friendly, too! The garden is lovely, and it's a great location. The only downside was that our room was a bit damp. 

Lovely guest house, great hosts

We resided at three different places during our 9 days stay on Madeira, and must say that the time we spent at the North Coast Guest House was by far the most enjoyable. Andreia and Ruben are the most friendly and inviting people you can imagine and simply open their entire house to their guests. Our accommodation was just great: clean, spacy enough and with a brilliant view on the mountain. The North Coast Guest House is an excellent hub to explore the north coast of Madeira (from Porto Moniz to Porto da Cruz), and also the boca da Encumeada in the centre of the island is very easily reached. In any case, when (not if!) we return to the island, we'll stay with Ruben and Andreia once more.
