Bongo-Bongo delivers on diving in a professionel, structured, well-planned (but flexible) and service orientated way while creating a super cozy atmosphere. We dove with Bongo for 14 days and even though we didn’t live there, we ended up spending most of our day time in the pool and hang-out area talking with fellow divers, drinking the good coffee and cold beers. The location is awesome 50 meters from the beach and a great and big housereef (also for snorkling), which is the same place for departures to Apo Island. Prices are also very fair. Thank you to Magnus and team for some great weeks!

Top-professionel diving in a chilled and cozy hostel wibe

We (1 x Australian male & 1 x Filipina) stayed for 3 x nights in a regular room, with 2 x days of diving: 2 x local day dives and 1 x local night dive, with 3 x dives the following day at Apo Island.  My booking was made only a few days beforehand and I chose Bongo Bongo as they were the only company who were quick to respond to my queries via WhatsApp.  The province of Dauin is about a thirty-minute drive south of Dumaguete, so it is neither difficult or expensive to get there.  The room was nice and clean and although the sleeping area felt a little bit cramped at times, we only used the room for sleeping and use of the bathroom…the rest of the time we were either diving, swimming in the pool, or hanging out in the hammock area or foyer / bar.  With our sleeping situation, my Filipina chose to sleep closest to the fan / aircon, which meant I was sleeping closest to the wall.  We should have reversed this arrangement as my Filipina doesn’t like being cold while I tended to overheat and feel a bit claustrophobic.  Subsequently I struggled to get a good sleep, so I’d recommend booking a larger room if one is available.  With the toilets, it’s paper in the bin (not the toilet), so we only used the ensuite toilet for peeing.  When you need to do more than pee, I recommend using the pleasant communal restrooms which are in the centre of the resort.  There is no restaurant on-site, but you can either order food from nearby restaurants (delivery included in the price) or self-cater in the kitchen.  The resort does not have facilities for accepting payment by credit card, but there are ATM’s on the main road.  My debit card doesn’t work with all banks in the Philippines, so it was a bit of a walk to a bank branch which had an ATM I could use to withdraw the required cash.  A pleasant stay and the diving was excellent. 

Great place to stay with exceptional diving.

An amazing experience overall.. The staff were very friendly especially at the bar, they were very accommodating.

The atmosphere is also really good, chill vibes all around and the facilities are exceptional with a wide range of scuba gear for everyone.

The prices are also really good relative to other places I’ve dived with in the Philippines.

Everyone is welcome at Bongo Bongo. My husband is a diver and I’m not - they made no difference and couldn’t have been nicer.

EXCEPTIONAL - WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Just a short stay this time, but great to see that the lovely social vibe has come back now that visitors have returned after covid.  This is a great place to learn to dive, or practice your critter photography.  The staff are really friendly, and it's a fun place to make friends with other guests.

As friendly as ever

We loved this dive shop. They were so accommodating. We came to the Philippines mostly to dive. However, after a series of unfortunate events I was unable to dive for an extended period of time. Bongo and Magnus worked with us so patiently! When I was finally able to make a comeback it felt like I had a whole team supporting me. The dive masters and teachers offered many helpful ideas and suggestions that created a successful diving experience.

Great diving experience 

Bongo Bongo was excellent in every way. Very professional shop with great management. Lots of friendly staff and other guests. Great patient instructors for us as certified but not frequent divers. They got us refreshed and up to speed. The dive masters are very professional, personable and point out everything I would miss without them. The equipment is top notch. The boat is set up really well. Nice rubber floor makes it easy to get around. Magnus helped us so much to work around sinus infections and a motorbike wreck. He was super helpful in dealing with all our calamities. Would give ten stars if I could.

Excellent in every way

Had a blast with Bingo Bongo divers! Excellent 5-star service (resort staff and boat crew). Owners are very hands on and will make you feel like you’re part of their family. Resort and culture makes you feel at home, extremely home-y and cozy. Hope you can include your own food menu in the future so people won’t have to go out of the resort except for diving. 

Dive equipment and expertise is an A+, Bongo Bongo’s instructors and guides know every inch of Dauin’s sites and Apo Island too! +100 points for having a DPV (Thanks Magnus and David!!).

Diver Disneyland

This place absolutely rocks. Its beautiful, on the beach, lovely warm pool, super clean rooms, outdoor bathrooms, kitchen for use for guests. The dive team were super professional, very friendly and arranged everything to our level (we took our 13 and 15yr old daughters for their first dive holiday post obtaining padi in Australia). Kit was being kept in immaculate condition. beach and boat dives available and the day trip to Apo Island was one of the best dive trips we have ever done. Stunning coral and so much wildlife to see. Boat crew cooked up philipino pork curry and vegetable curry, fresh bakery snacks, tea/coffee etc. Bongo bongo has a great relaxed vibe in the evening. Plenty of local eating options, all serving local affair which we thoroughly enjoyed - including sticky rice and chocolate sauce for breakfast from nearby market stalls! very few tourists about and locals very friendly. toured the area on mopeds, less than $10 a day hire. Go now. can't recommend enough.

Superb family dive holiday- go before everyone finds it again post pandemic!

Amazing. Just amazing. I can’t recommend them enough. The staff were so so friendly….they made my girlfriend and I feel very safe when diving with them. The room was outstanding, clean and very cosy. I will be visiting them again. 10/10. (Special shout out to Ann, thank you so much. You made our experience that little bit more special).
