The place started out ok until you reach the rooms. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The cleanliness is lacking. The kicker is that the owner is constantly looking to charge you hidden fees. In addition, they are expanding the property and start doing construction work at about 2AM right outside your room. Needless to say, there are many much better options in town so choose one of them. 

Run don't walk!! The pits

If you're looking for a place to stay between archeological visits you don't need a fancy one. This place is a good choice in Chiclayo. The best is the customer service! The whole place is clean and breakfast is meant to give you energy for the rest of the day. Good and affordable choice. 

Good and affordable choice in Chiclayo

Estuvimos 8 noches en este hotel simple pero muy bien manejado. Queda en la calle San Jose a dos cuadras del Parque Principal. Parece ser de dueños peruano-japoneses. Excelente actitud. Si pides algo que no ofrecen, encuentran manera de satisfacer tu pedido. El empleado de la Recepción muy atento, formal y sabe tratar al huesped. Los que lo reemplazaron en la noche o sábados, igual de educados. Habitación limpia y cómoda. Baño como debe ser. Desayuno en la azotea magnífico, incluso tuvimos que enseñarles cómo hacer huevos a la inglesa, y no sólo aprendieron sino lo hacían con gusto todas las mañanas. (El wi-fi es bueno dentro de lo que uno puede tener en el centro de Chiclayo). Linda experiencia. Ahí regresamos en el próximo viaje.

We spent 8 nights in this simple little hotel, which is very well managed. It's on Calle San Jose, two blocks from Chclayo's Main Square. It seems to be owned by Peruvian-Japanese people. Excellent attitude. If you ask for something they don't have, they will find the way to satisfy your need. The Reception Desk's clerk is very polite, formal and knows how to deal with his guests. His substitutes at night and on Saturdays were also very correct. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was like bathrooms should be. Breakfast at roof top was great; in fact, we even had to teach them how to do eggs sunny-side-up with a soft yolk, and not only did they learn, but also, they were very pleased to fix them every morning. (Wi-Fi was as good as one can find in downtown Chiclayo). A beautiful experience. We will return there on our next trip. 
I have included a Spanish version of this text because, otherwise, Tripadvisor will do a horrible translation and they don't even realize that they have changed the meaning of what I wrote.

Este hotelito sí que vale

I chose this through reading the reviews on Trip Advisor and it was pretty much what we expected, despite the taxi driver trying to persuade us to go somewhere else!  

The rooms are prettily designed, with strong Japanese touches.  They have everything you need but they are small.  However, it's an extremely good price (£25 a night or 90 soles) with breakfast included.  It was a bit noisy, but you're in the middle of a Peruvian city which all seem to be noisy, so not really a surprise.

It's just off the main Plaza de Armas in Chiclayo, so very well located.

Good value small hotel

The staff isn't helpful. We asked for directions or help with how to dial a number and no help was given. The staff is unfriendly except for one young man named johnathan. 

The food is okay, but it lacks selection. The city doesn't have much to do.
 We have been warned by taxis and waiters that it is unsafe in chiclayo. 

So far nothing much to do.

No pool. No fitness center.
