I lived in Ål for roughly one year and I stayed at Aal Pensjonat most of this time. The staff is very nice and joyfull. I'm really grateful for their hospitality!
The rooms are in good shape as the house was renovated totally in the recent years. 
There is a good and modern kitchen there which is possible to use.

I also had a stay at the Thon Hotell, just 100 meters from this house. I found the Pensjonat the best place to stay. 

I will definetly come back!

We found the Aal Penjonat on TripAdvisor and found it to be every bit as wonderful as others have described.  Oddrun, the owner, runs a beautiful historic home (and bank at one stage of its existence) that has been renovated to contemporary standards. Her homey touches are everywhere, with sheepskins and blankets on chairs that invite one to curl up with a good book.  Fresh flowers and candles abound.  Breakfast is fully Norwegian and great.  We only stayed for a night as we were breaking up the drive between Oslo and Flåm, but recommend you stay for more if your time permits.  This is a great place.

Charming old house, actually Aal's old bank, with a few, unique rooms stuffed with personality. Feels like being at home - the living room is small and yours, the kitchen is big and yours, except you don't have to do the kitchen work. It's cosy and private in the right matter, swiss chalet style and newly renovated from top to toe by the owners themselves. Perfect breakfast including fireplace and waffles - and the hostess' friendly presence.

Just returned from Norway.  This was the first hotel we stayed at and it really blew me away. It is beautifully decorated with both old and new furniture.   The owner has a real sense of style and has managed to create just the right feel. Our room was one of the attic rooms. It was large enough with a very comfortable double bed and a beautiful en suite. Breakfast was delightful with plenty of choice. The owner was very helpful couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was enjoyable. I would definitely recommend, just wish we had been able to stay longer.

Not for persons with problems with steep stairs.very friendly owner.very good breakfast.must visit the winevault next time.the house used to be the Ål bank.Now they keep the wine inn the old vault.
