Ro Hotel

You get what you pay for. The Ro Hotel was perfect for us as we didn’t want the spa and potential luxuary of the other hotels in Geilo. The owner of the Ro is quiet, professional, kind, helpful and everything a hotelier should be. The hotel itself is clean and warm and has excellent free WiFi. Our room, though not huge, was big enough to air our ski clothes and the en suite had underfloor heating. Sadly there is no kettle in the room so if you want a hot drink after skiing (essential IMO) then you need to bring a travel kettle or buy one at Power (Norway’s Curries) or the ‘everything supermarket’ as the Power sales assistant described the local Europris. The bed (2 singles pushed together with 2 single duvets) was comfortable, though I am glad I took my own pillow. Towels were small but changed everyday and we could have probably asked for more. There is a room for storing and drying skis and a boot after/warmer. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful - cold meat, cheese, eggs, herrings, fruit, cereal, bread and crisp bread. We could have asked for a packed lunch at a reasonable price if we had wanted. The location is ideal if you have a car, but, if you don’t, the ski bus stops outside and it is a short hop to any of the three local ski centres Our room was on the street side and I was not disturbed at all by the trains. I would stay here again as I prefer to save money to spend on the wonderful meals we had and activities that we did.
