The Golf Course has had an injection of effort over the past few years which is evidenced from the state of the grounds. For the tough economic climate NZ is in, it's looking pretty great.

In terms of the Club House, it's had a make over of sorts too. There is now a gold simulator for those days the course is closed due to weather, a fully stocked bar that is open at regular hours and an easy eating food menu. They also host events in the club house and outdoors. 

Perfect setting to play a round and/or watch the natural wildlife wander by. It's quite stunning the variety of rare birds that now call this place home!!

Well worth the trip to visit.

Golf Course Looking Mint & Club House Menu in fine form

We went out to the resort for their Sunday roast night and were very pleased with the staff , the setting and the food. Well worth a visit- they are only open fri, sat sun but lets support them and the hours will improve. 

Great food

Didn't stay or play golf, just came in for a bite to eat in the afternoon. Many restaurants stop their lunch menu at 2-3 so we were pleasantly surprised that they were still serving. I had the salmon salad and my friend had the nachos, both were very delicious, well-portioned, and well-priced. The salmon was cooked perfectly. The view of the golf course was absolutely breathtaking... And our wait staff that day were lovely. Would definitely come again for food, and maybe one day to stay? :)

Loved the Lakes

Friend won a weekend at one of the villas.  Very isolated but if you want to be hidden away from civilisation, self sufficient and well prepared and wanting to do your own cooking and be next to a golf course it's perfect.  

We drove down on a Friday with friends.  Gated resort.  Initially difficult to locate villa due to lack of numbers.

No golf due to wet weather but that's the luck of the weather.

Well equipped villa.  Modern, cosy, homely.  No complaints with  regard to the accommodation.  Lovely.

Mobile reception poor so if want isolation great.  

Nearest food places and superette in the town about 10mins by vehicle.

Not much there as it is a holiday/Bach place.  

Overall nice accomodation if you want a get away from everything and are prepared for being self sufficient and well prepared.

Woukd think golfers would appreciate more.  

Not really our type of weekend away and wouldn't return

Fish in chips in Pauanui shops were 1st rate

Fantastic if you want complete isolation

Had lots of money spent but its run down now.  Not worth a lot of money to play but it is an experience that you should try if only to say been there, done that.  
With the prospect of a new buyer injecting cash, perhaps it might change but check in advance of arrival.

Run Down and Scruffy

Visited from the 5th - 10th Jan 2019. Lovely area. Good setting. However the rentals are too close to each other. Almost overlooked into each home. Worst was the mozzies. Tons of them, had the get Doom to kill them off 2 days in a row. No air conditioners and temps where up to 30degs in the evening 

Bach Holiday Home

Splashed out for 2 nights on a villa at Lakes Resort, managed by Bachcare. Was a bit surprised to have to pay $200 bond and then a mandatory $92 cleaning fee, which I now wonder what it's used for. As instructed we texted the Bachcare manager with our arrival time and received a reply that there would be someone to let us in. We ended up sitting outside the gate for 35 mins before he deemed to open the gate for us. The villa itself was spacious and relatively clean. However could not use the BBQ or oven as both were covered in grease and dirty pans. Drier didn't work till I cleaned the lint out, probably first time in its history given the densely packed lint block I had to remove. Worse though was that I had taken the more expensive villa so we could use the swimming pool facilities. However the key we were given did not work and we could only access the pool if other users were there to unlock the gate. I left 2 voice mail messages for the Bachcare manager but had no response. Overall a lovely setting but with no mobile reception and no on site manager to assist it's not worth what you pay for it.
