This is a return visit after being introduced by a colleague; we tend to overnight in Ruacana when driving from Namibia to Angola. Ruacana has some sights, but the driving force is the hydroelectric installation, so in the past we always stayed at the utility’s hotel.

The owner (who lives across the road) met me promptly when I telephoned on arrival. Dinner (see below) was delivered slightly earlier than promised.

I regret staying only overnight here! It’s actually a small house not a room: a living room/lounge with fully equipped kitchen area at one end, spacious bedroom with king size bed plus a single bed, and large bathroom with shower. It would be a very comfortable base for exploring NW Namibia although that’s not my opportunity at the moment.

In future we will plan for self catering even overnight since it’s so well equipped. However on request Anne Maré will prepare dinner and breakfast, delivered to the suite. It’s not gourmet fare but tasty.

Ruacana is not a big tourist market; of the options available I think this is probably the overall best, and it certainly met my need for a good rest in the middle of a 1000 km drive.

Excellent self catering suites, meals also offered

Not many accommodations exist in this area so we were happy to have found this place, which is convenient to highly recommended birding areas in region. It would be difficult to find a better breakfast than we had before we departed for Kunene River. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice Place Near Kunene River Region

Arrived and were very lucky to find the maid still there. Supposed to use your phone but none of us had a Namibian SIM. Very unwelcoming, owner did not bother to come out to greet us. chalets OK bit run down. Air conditioning unit dripped on you at night had to move the bed away from the walll Self-catering provision good. 

Difficult to enter the property on arrival

This us a BIG NO NO. NEVER MET THE HOSTS. Lady at reception could Not speek EnglIsh or Afrikaans. Our room was not ready at 2. Dishes and linen lying around. Ouside light not working after we told them in our mail that we wanted to braai. No shampoo or any body wash😧Only one shop no fruit veg or milk and ice. SAD SAD

No no no!!!!!!! Our room was not ready at 2 lady that mett us could not speak english or afrikaans. Never met the host😡
