I would recommend this hostel to anyone who wants to be hosted by a true desert expert, as well as an excellent host. We ate and slept very well and then one night we went to bed late looking at the stars and drinking something, which was great. We still kept in touch with Omar, which is a sign of the friendship we have established with him. I am writing the opinion now because at the time it was not published by mistake. Our visit was in January 2019 (tripadvisor does not let me set the date because it is too far away).

Great memories of the site and its host.

The rooms and common bathroom are simple but Omar's house is fantastic: the courtyard, the living room where we taste the delicious Moroccan dishes and tea, the discussions until the end of the night... well, we just didn't want to leave him, his friends, his dunes and his Merzouga!

What can I say... ah if... we come back next year!

I went to Morocco on a journey of yoga and personal growth. Our guide during the entire stay was Omar, from Los Ojos del Desierto. It couldn't have been better and we couldn't have been more satisfied!! :) He's a great person, kind, respectful, attentive and able to fully transmit the Berber philosophy of life in the Merzouga desert. Aside from teaching us all the interesting places along the way and accompanying us during the days in the dunes, he invited us to eat at his house. He prepared a delicious tea (with and without sugar), salads and Berber pizzas (with and vegetarian) super rich!! His house is delicious, clean, breathable, caring and a traditional energy!

What a wonderful experience!

A beautiful place, outside of time, the calm, the dunes, the sun, the authenticity. Omar is a rare person. Captivating, attentive, listening, a great man. The hostel is hospitable, the meals are excellent, the location is perfect.

Outside of time

Kicking around the bucket list, my daughters friend recommended Omar for our impending trip to Morocco. After reaching out to him and being patience with regard to time differences and trying to design a grand vacation, Omar came up with a perfect ten day itinerary. He factored in our wishlists, amount of time and monetary needs. We got to see vibrant cities, mosques, parks, medinas, country sides, museums, animals, shops, and artisans. Each evening we stayed in clean, warm, and beautifully designed environments. Our overnight in the desert, after a camel ride to the camp, was breathtaking. The tents, food, music and camaraderie within the group were so very special.  I don’t think I will ever forget the feel of the sand, cool and silky. Everywhere the food was delicious, flavored with local spices. A driver was provided (a must). Mohammad was a wonderfully pleasant, young man, who took good care of us. We came to enjoy his company, stories and infectious laugh. We drove from Casa Blanca, south, east, north and back west, making a giant loop, stopping along the way. Upon meeting Omar, in Merzouga, we were greeted by a gentle giant of sorts. A tall, lean, and soft spoken man, Omar was bright, knowledgeable, and warm. He was well respected by colleagues and locals. “Tranquil” was his favorite word for us! And we did. This trip pushed me slightly out of my comfort zone, only to realize my comfort zone is much larger now (as I find with much travel). The world truly is full of beautiful people, amazing sites and natural wonders.  I highly recommend this group. Enjoy!

A Diamond in the Desert

Staying at Omar’s house has been a wonderful experience, not only because of the beauty of the place, but because of Omar's and his brothers‘ charm and attentions, which made us feel immediately at home. The house is an harmonic combination of traditional berber architecture with smart -yet low-tech- solutions of modern architecture.
Omar is a great guide and became a friend to us, we look forward to visiting him again! Highly recommended!!!

Beautiful experience at Omar's

Although we did not know the site before, we were pleasantly surprised.A hostel built in the traditional style of the local houses that gives it a special charm.The staff of the place is super kind and friendly with their guests.They have an exquisite meal and offer all the services that a traveler seeks during his stay in the Sahara.If you are looking for a place outside the area's luxurious macro complexes where you can relax and enjoy a few days of disconnection, this is the perfect place.

A great place to enjoy your stay in the desert.

I encourage everyone to stay with Omar for the beauty of the landscape but especially for the greatness of man.

A genuine stay with a unique person

We spent two days in Merzouga and it was spectacular.I would recommend it to everyone.Omar took us to some abandoned mines, a jaima in the desert (precious), to listen to live African music and a local trade.He is a great guide and an excellent person, very kind and respectful.He speaks Spanish perfectly.100% recommended.

Thank you for that trip omar. I hope you're good, maybe we'll see us one day again.  Jula and I had a very good time with you. I liked the food, the trip through the desert and visiting your family. But especially the riddles at night below the starry sky in the desert.  :)
