Nizadú Hostel

we have stayed at this hostel and really wish we had stayed longer, they have a nice breakfast in the morning, you can use the kitchen and utilities, our room was very clean we had a private bathroom , table for computer ... clean sheets, they did our laundry for very cheap, they offered to help all the time. The staff is very charmy it is about 15 min walk to zocalo wich is really pleasant.

Absolutely fantastic. Best hostel we stayed at on our trip. Not only was the city very pleasant, but the staff/hostel actually made the experience better if that is possible. They did our laundry, made tasty breakfasts, free towels, nice clean rooms with ensuite washroom, sunny rooftop patio.... very nice! Very secure with huge gate/doorbell. They offered to help organize tours. Close to grocery store. A bit of a walk to Zocalo, but very pleasant.

My experience at this hostel has been the unique experience. I checked into this hostel like any other guest but check out with great cultural experience.

I will come to my unique experience later. First few things about the hostel and my stay.

I felt like home at this hostel. The location is good. The roof is awesome and spacious. I did morning yoga few days. The staff is very helpful and knowleadgable. The kitchen is clean and great for cooking meals. The location is very safe. The room is bit small for 8 bunk beds but other great things like awesome breakfast makes up for it.

I learned something new at this place. Ariadna taught me how to make Mexican food. I learned how to cook Estafado de Pollo con Arroz. Best thing on my Mexico trip. In return I tried my best to show her how to cook Indian curry. I was limited due to lack of complete spices. But I am glad to know Ariadna and her husband enjoyed the semi-Indian curry.

Ariadna showed me some cool pictures of her trip to India, and shared some interesting stories from India. I wish to have the same or may better experiences in Mexico. Learning to cook Mexican food with the help of Ariadna definitely made my trip to Mexico very special.

When I look back my Mexico trip. I will remember my experience at this hostel.

We stayed in a private room in this small hostel. The staff are really lovely, extremely helpful and friendly. They also give you a free hot traditional breakfast every morning. The only downside would be it is a little out of the way, it is a 15-20 min walk to the Zocalo, which doesn't sound like much but it is very hot in Oaxaca. Overall a great little hostel, it has free breakfast, free internet, free movies, a nice roof terrace, nice clean rooms and great staff.

Best hostel I have stayed at

Great Experience wtih the Cooking!

Lovely, Lovely staff

1.Our online reservation was not honored here, we only got a room for 2nights instead of 4 we had booked through the internet. At least they helped us to find another place since it was Guelaguetza time, and dropped us there which was nice. 

2.The owner is friendly, but she´s present only couple of hours a day. At other times only staff member available is one of the girls who don´t speak any english and don´t know anything about anything you ask them(for example the closest laundry service or ticket bus office).

3. The worst part: our Guelaguetza tickets were stolen from the room and we missed the whole show because of them! They were between some papers in the room(where we unfortunately forgot them), so they have gone through our stuff while we were out.  

4. The hostel is really far from everything and quite a hassle to walk to late at night, otherwise you´ll have to take a taxi.

5. The rooms are extremely simple, and nothing you see in the pictures in their web page, so not really worth the price you have to pay.

6.Their breakfast is nothing special and rather small, I even got a diarrea from it.

7. The area where the hostel is located is pretty noisy with cars, dogs etc..

There are many better hotels to stay in Oaxaca, and if you for some reason choose to stay at Nizadu at least make sure you have all your valuables with you or in a safe place before you leave the room....
