Petit Hotel Lapin Agile

I recommend this magnificent place for a class experience different from the classic Japanese ryokans. I can not say if this experience is also suitable for non-Japanese for the rental especially but I hope the review is useful to some enterprising westerner who wants to have a particular experience. I start right with the topic position. The htel is located in the prefecture of Gunma, perched on the mountains and immersed in a wood and therefore isolated from the village, therefore only reachable if you arrive by car; For this reason it is recommended for those wishing to have a relaxing holiday, leaving out visits and excursions especially in winter. However, I would like to mention the fact that nearby there are ski slopes for those who are passionate about sports. Getting here from Tokyo is not easy with public transport and even by car it takes at least 4 hours of travel and a good navigator. I speak now of the structure .... The hotel has a typically Bavarian mountain style both externally and in the magnificent interiors with exposed wooden beams and typical decorations as well as fireplaces and very suggestive corners. The rooms are, in my opinion, a perfect mix between modern western rooms and classic ryokan rooms. All (or almost) the rooms are equipped with all comforts and amenities to ensure maximum comfort, including a personal onsen and a dining room with a relaxing view of the woods that guarantee privacy both in the hot baths and in the romantic dinners . I have not asked if dinners for groups and families are possible, but the structure has many rooms so I imagine it is possible! As for onsen, of course there are also public onsen to be used as an alternative to the rooms; clearly these onsen also guarantee privacy as they can be booked. We come now to the dinner and breakfast speech. In the first case, we speak of more western-style dinners than French-style dinners, therefore very refined and particular dishes with typical sauces; I could venture that it is a mix of the two kitchens but I don't consider myself so expert so it's just my opinion. But I must say that the dinner hit me favorably in every course. As for breakfast there is the possibility to choose between western or Japanese cuisine. Both types of breakfast are worth trying and both satisfy the palates (and stomach) of those who order them. There were some imperfections (for example rice not of the highest choice or miso soup that seemed to be commercial) ... but I repeat that they are only my impressions and that I can be wrong and in any case nobody is perfect !! As for prices, I must say that this is not a cheap place and it is not expected to be! There are different types of rooms of different cubature and therefore prices vary from room to room and therefore better get an idea on the site. Needless to say, the staff is very friendly and reliable for every need!
