We had a great stay for 5 nights on our skiing holiday. The family run hotel is close to the lifts, onsens and the bus station. The family were so helpful and friendly, making our stay so comfortable. 
The drying room is warm and spacious. The ski and snowboard storage area is large and secure. There is even a bench to service your skis or snowboard. 
Our futon mattresses were comfortable and the eiderdowns were thick and warm. 
We will definitely visit again. 

Great location, warm & clean. Close to ski gondola, Main Street and the numerous local free (donation) onsens. Walking tour is a must do in Nozawa as well. Well with the visit to Nozawa Onsen, easily can stay four nights if your thinking of visiting Myoko at the same time.

My family and I came to Nozawaonsen to enjoy a few days of the fabled Japanese skiing and we were not disappointed.  The snow conditions and fresh powder was amazing.  After a long day of skiing we enjoyed our stay at the Marushige.  The owner was lovely and helped with directions and all questions we had about the town.  Adding on the morning breakfast is a must. Food is uniquely Japanese, delicious and plentiful! The ryokan is centrally located in town to the ski resort, other dining and the famous Onsens in the area.  

I would highly recommend a stay at the Marushige when visiting the area.

When you go to Nozawa, and it’s just deep powder all day, the genuine, friendly and cosy feel of this family hotel is right on the money for the unpretentious happy-with-five-stars-or-no-stars. Spot on the mark! For travellers new to Japan, the common set-up is tatami-style rooms with shared bathroom/showers. 

Seiko and family are wonderful kind and gracious hosts.  Accommodations are simple but clean and comfortable.  The lodge is easy walking distance to the gondola, a local public onsen and the village.  Breakfast was great value and dinner authentic and delicious.  Would definitely stay here again if I have the good fortune to revisit...

The room was large enough for 4 and even though we had to sleep on the for the thin-like futon mattresses were more than comfortable. The included breakfast had the option of a western or Local breakfast - both were outstanding. The on-site Onsen (hot spring bathtub) was enjoyable and relaxing. Our hosts were very attentive and SO helpful. They even created a departure schedule for the morning trek back to Tokyo (bus and train). Since we were there to ski, the walk to the gondola took 8 to 9 minutes. The ski storage and drying room were top rate. But bring proper foot ware - we were shocked at the amount of snow fall and walking around town in sneakers was not a good idea. And the town's restraunt are all within walking distance. Such a great little ski town!

A fantastic, friendly,  family run ryokan,  A short walk to the village in one direction and the ski slope in the other. Onsen next door.

Awesome place, great lodge, lovely people.

Had wonderful time staying at this Lodge, I would recommend to anyone wanting to ski in Nowzawaonsen.
