5 reviewsThe NEw Fukudaya is a great place to stay when in Ishiuchi. The location is right next to the Sunrise Express gondola and when the snow has fallen its ski in and ski out- we were two days late to experience that:-( The owner is a legendary man- very polite, very organised and very friendly. Hi Wife is much the same and the other staff are awesome. Nothing is too much trouble and the language barrier is easily overcome with some pigeon Japanese and google translate! The lobby/communal area is great- very homey and warm and the dining area does what it's supposed to. The drying room is also excellent:-) The rooms are small 9No surprise in Nihon) but clean and very cosy. My Wife and two kids were more than comfortable in the room. The other great thing was the owners collected and dropped us off at the train station and even gifted the kids with some Japanese souvenirs when we left. As mentioned in other reviews the coffee is great in the lounge and there are free safety boxes there to be used if you need to. All in all a great place to stay and somewhere that I would certainly stay again when we next visit Ishiuchi.
