Santana Guest House Kyoto

Quiet location, less than a five minute walk from the bus stop, and 10 minutes bus ride to Koto station. Small and cozy guest house with an intimate feel. Bed was comfortable enough and dorm had lockers. Awesome staff, very warm and focused on customer service. Reiko cooks fantastic food (some of the best I've had in Japan actually!) - I couldn't get enough of that indian curry! Reiko was also able to adapt the breakfast to my needs. The food overall an excellent value. Toilets and dorms are quite narrow with very little space for movement. Soundproofing of room is not great. I really dislike the fact that it is allowed to smoke in the little courtyard at the back of the house, as the smell of cigarette inevitably wanders back into the house.
