The hotel is located in the street but close to 湯の坪街道 and it is easy to miss it if you drive as it looks like residents. Although the hotel is small but the decor inside is traditional. Room with private onsen which is good.

Traditional Japanese onsen hotel

Great, large room with private onsen. The private onsen was so nice to have. I would DEFINITELY recommend getting a room with one. Wonderful, helpful and friendly staff. Delicious kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hot spring ryokan..first of all, do not be put off by the all Japanese language booking. Simply use google translate and book your stay here! The staffs were so nice and passionate about their job!  They genuinely care about their guests, despite the language barrier!  We stayed in two different rooms- one with hot spring and the other is the western bedroom.  We prefer the western bedroom as it is quieter and it is newly refurbished.  The food were all delicious and we were stuffed- as you can see from the pictures attached.  Highly recommended and thank you for such a wonderful stay.

Wonderful Japanese Ryokan

We just loved this place. 

Location: about 10 minutes walk from the train station and an easy walk to the center of the town

Food:they served dinner in the room and the food was amazing. We loved every single dish;especially the beef

Onsen: we tried outdoor private ones and enjoyed them. We also had a small outdoor one attached to our room. It was a plus for a quick morning onsen. 

Staff: super friendly, polite and helpful

If I ever go back to Yufuin , I will certainly come back here

Staff, service, facilities and food were amazing!

We have been to probably 30 ryokans over the 20 years we have traveled in Japan. This was one of the very best both for its food and price.  We decided to splurge and get a private bath. It was gorgeous. The service was outstanding. It is an easy walk into town. The photos on TripAdvisor do not do it justice. 

Fantastic experience, great value

The room is clean and big enough. Comfortable stay. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Great service.

Relaxing stay in Yufuin

It is very nice experience at this hotel! The staff are both very very nice and kind. I would definitely recommend this hotel to you! The place is very convenient to both bus stop, jr station and also walking street. Also it is closed to supermarket aeon which opens till 23:00. I went to hotel from bus stop on foot with only 6-7 minutes and took taxi to bus stop when i leave with only 650 yen. I think it is a good choice to stay at this hotel when you come to yufin. I am happy to have free upgrade to the room with onsen. The experience to have onsen inside own room is gorgeous and also i like to have dinner inside my own room. It is so “home-feeling”.

We stayed at Yamadaya for 2 nights, and our experience there was absolutely fantastic. The environment, service, amenities and food were perfect. There are a total of 14 rooms across 2 floors at Yamadaya. Our room was located on the 2nd floor with a great view of Mt. Yufu. Basic amenities are included in the room (tv, wifi, plug point, towels, toothbrush, razor, shower cap, face wash, moisturiser, etc). Toilet seats are heated and have bidets. Other than that, there's a green tea set you can use, hot and cold water to drink, and also Yukata and pyjamas to wear during your stay there.There are 4 onsens at Yamadaya, 2 private and 2 public (indoor and outdoor). As long as nobody is using the private onsen, anyone can use it. Toiletries are of high quality as well (Shisheido brand). I highly recommend the outdoor onsen by the garden as it is really beautiful.Food was very delicious. Ingredients were fresh and prepared with care. Both nights we were served with a variety of food. The highlight was definitely the beef. I would recommend to have a light lunch as the dinner portion is really huge and you will be stuffed!Lastly, the staffs there are really polite and friendly. They'll go the extra mile to make your stay there as enjoyable as possible.
