This hotel is awesome,

Everyone wants to know the bad first so I will put it first, some parts of the hotel is dated. So if you are expecting the condition of the hotel to be 5 stars you might be disappointed in certain locations.

The staff were very helpful, they helped guide us in Japanese customs, like when to wear slippers and when to take them off with out seeming judgemental.

The bath was nude only and gender separated, it had rules clearly posted in English to make it easier.

The food was great, the buffets had plenty of vegetarian options.

The private only bath was around 20 dollars. We didn’t know there was a fee when we reserved it, but it was well worth it.

The near by paddle boats were fun, the gondola ride near by was definitely worth the cost, it had amazing views of Mt. Fuji

Wonderful trip

We’ve been to Tokyo a few times, but never been to Kawaguchiko lake, so just pick one close to the lake and acceptable price. Lucky us, turned out to be firework weekend, wonderful location for watching fireworks, walking distance to ropeway. One side of the hotel face lake view and the other side see mt Fuji. Has hot bath, good buffet dinner and breakfast. Highly recommend the croissant at the breakfast buffet. The hotel and facilities are old but were kept in good shape. We had a wonderful Japanese hot bath day trip!

You get both Mt Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi view in one hotel.

I see some reviews mentioning rude staff but we did not encounter any of that. The staff we did encounter were very pleasant and professional. They sent the shuttle to the station for our luggage because we wanted to have lunch and then go on a tour immediately. When we finally came to the hotel our bags had been moved to our room. The room as well as the public areas were very clean and tidy. Room was spacious enough for our family. Breakfast and dinner buffets were quite good as well. I at least had no problems finding things to eat.

My wife used the public ladies bath and my sons booked the private bath for themselves. All good from what I heard (I did not use any of the baths). There's a nice bit of walk along the lake shore and places to sit close to the water. Lake view from our room was excellent.

Beds nice and firm, pillows a little too soft though. The bathroom could do with a bit more ventilation.

This place is fairly expensive but I feel we got good value for our money. I would go back for another stay.

Very nice 2-night stay at this hotel

ROOM:  We had a suite on the top floor with views of both Mt. Fuji and Lake Kawaguchi.  Beautiful room with a living area, foyer, bedroom and compact bathroom.  Beds are very comfortable.  Small balcony off living area.

BREAKFAST BUFFET:  Outstanding Asian food and Western food.  Dinning area provided scenic views of lake and Mt. Fuji.  Thai partner gave thumbs up.

LOCATION:  Within walking distance of train and bus station.  Bus stops located just outside of resort.  Easy walking in neighborhood area.

SHUTTLE:  Hotel provided transportation to & from train-bus station.

ENTERTAINMENT:  The hotels provides quest with kimonos to wear in the hotel.  An authentic Japanese Dinner (reservations required) available.  Also Spa and other pleasures.  Large Gift shop in hotel.

STAFF:  Friendly and helpful.  Spoke English very well.

OVERVIEW:  Outstanding resort, the very best, with nothing lacking!

Outstanding resort & suite

This hotel is on a beautiful location right on  the lake with stunning views over the water and trees. Traditional hotel with lovely attention to detail. The food was great and the staff friendly. We had a private Onsen with views over Mr Fuji, spectacular! 

Lovely hotel

We decided and booked our Tokyo travel a week before flying so we didn’t have the luxury of choices. Fuji Lake Hotel had a room available so we went for it. We spent 3 nights there. 
The hotel looks dated and we read its history as being one of the earliest built at Lake Kawaguchiko. Our room was spacious and faced the lake. After spending three days there we didn’t feel like we missed Mt Fuji view as we saw it throughout the day. I recommend going to the dining room early and get the counter seats facing Fuji San. The view of the lake is also great as the dining room is on 7th Fl and has panoramic window view. We walked around the lake and took in the view from various perspectives. There are many hotels all around the lake and we reckon that the hotels located across  Fuji Lake hotel would offer a much more picturesque view of Mt Fuji, though a bit distant. Imagine a view with the lake in foreground and Mt Fuji in background. While our hotel has a closer view the buildings in the foreground somewhat spoiled the overall view. Well one can’t have everything!
We enjoyed our stay and will revisit Kawaguchiko but will choose a different hotel for a change. In terms of location Fuji Lake has little to offer compared to the Momiji Corridor area where there are more touristy attractions and restaurants. The nice part of Fuji Lake is the hotel is built right on the lake unlike others which are separated from the lake by the main road.

Enjoyed Lake view but less of Fuji San

Location of the hotel was fabulous with an easy walk to shops, restaurants & the Ropeway. Beds were a bit too firm. Breakfast was great! Our room had Mt Fuji view and was a good size - but was expensive.

Some have commented that this hotel needs an update - yes, our room (the combined Japanese/ Western style) did need an update for sure - but the public areas are fine on the whole, and comfortable. Breakfast was fabulous in the 7th floor restaurant overlooking either Fuji on one side or Lake Kawaguchiko on the other. Excellent service, great coffee and enormous choice of breakfast options. Nice location and handy for the Red Line Sightseeing Bus. 

Great location 

We splurged for 1 nite to stay in Mt Fuji area.  It was a beautiful clear, cold, windy when we arrived at 8:30am by bus from Shinjuku.  It was 10min walk from bus station.  Room wasn't ready until 3pm.  Carpet is worn, furnishing are old, bathroom was clean.  Bath/shower is separate from toilet.  No free water.  Heater was blasting when we went to our room on the 7th floor.  We had a great view of Mt Fuji.  They had a great variety of breakfast food.  However, when we checked out to pay both of my US credit cards that I've been using thru my years of travel didn't work.  I had US $$ but they don't exchange at the front desk.  They were kind enough to drive me to Lawson to use the ATM or a bank if needed.  Overall, it was a splurge but for it was too old of an hotel for me.  The red line tour bus stops in front.

It nice but old

Fuji lakes was the highlight of my Japan trip. We took a family trip in April last year.... this is a very late post. 

The hotel provides either lake view or mountain view. Our room was mountain facing with private Onsen. Overall,  the weather was nice and hence, we could capture glimpse of MT. fuji from our Onsen.  View from the hotel, at least for our room was little obstructed due to building. You can see it in the pictures. Which I did not like, but nevertheless we had nice family time. May be at higher floor view might be better. 

The staff is very helpful, very polite. The property is little old though but quite maintained. 

Convenience store is at walking distance. We could not find very many eating places / restaurant near this hotel. But there is one Mediterranean restaurant near the convenience store. However, there are many other hotels around, you may go to their restaurants as well. 

Very close to cable car/ train  which takes to the top of a mountain where you can capture Mount Fuji clearly. If weather allows!! 

One night Traditional dinner was included in our stay, I didn’t find it impressive. The food was ok. But if you have not done it even once then maybe you can try. Don’t remember whether we paid extra for the dinner or it was included in the room charges. If you need to pay extra then I would suggest find some good authentic restaurants that would be better option.

The hotel provides traditional attire and footwear, which was placed in the room’s cupboard. We wore it for traditional dinner. It was fun! 

Overall, the stay was memorable...Private Onsen was worth it!!
