Fujinoyu

Our Host owners Noriko & Schinji and their sweet resident Dog Ko greeted us upon our late evening arrival in the rain! Our Rooms and the Onsen were both prepared and well cared for. This began the start of a relaxing and enjoyable stay. We rested up from days on the Nakasendo Trail, while all the small and thoughtful gestures made the difference in our experience. These details made us feel like we were in a private home setting, even though we were at a travelers Ryokan. Our Meals were delivered with precision; while every offered item was identified and explained in great detail; although in Japanese, the four of us figured it out with our English and small bits of Japanese the group knew. Schinji the chef, one of the owners, also created all meals. Each was crafted with such quality and skill, the best we had during our two weeks stay in Japan. On our departure day, the local typhoon was forecasted to hit the region. In very heavy rains, Noriko took the time and care to walk us to the bus depot, she awaited its arrival and ensured the bus driver knew of our destination goals. She even called our next destination to ensure they knew of our arrival time. We loved our stay and felt the 5 star service this Family operated business delivers to it's guest and travelers. We highly recommend Fuji -no-Yu Ryokan. We found our little Gem in Matsumoto...... Thank you!
