Pretty farmhouse with a great pool and nice views. Staff speaks mostly Italian, we communicated mostly using google translate. During the day the farmhouse is very quiet, but in the evening after 2230 they organise wedding parties which can be vey loud and take until 0230AM. Not ideal if you are looking for a quiet place to sleep. Breakfast was very nice with all sorts of nice cakes. Reception was closed when arrived, nobody was available to check us in. Finally managed to find somebody but who was not aware we were coming. Apartment was not ready: balcony not cleaned (cigarettes still not taken out, gas supply for kitchen not connected, no drinking glasses). But after some talking using google translate this was quickly resolved.

The people who work at this place is very helpful. They did everything to make us feel like home

Beautiful historical villa hidden in the hills and olive trees of Rossano. Superb sunset and light, the environment was magical.
The apartment style was old fashioned and a bit dark. Though, very clean.
Lovely people although unpredictable service, didn't speak any other language but italian, however extremely kind.
The pool, the night lights on the terrace and the charming breakfast under the trees make us forget the inconvenients.

Magical landscape in Rossano

Surrounded by a superb estate with 6000 olive and 2000 citrus trees, vineyards and oaks, Masseria Mazzei is a hidden wonder. Out of the beaten path, nestled between the cristalline shores of the Ionian Sea and historic villages of the Sila mountains, the Masseria is a perfect location to recharge in nature: walking, biking, horse riding, swimming...Family owned during the last 300 years, today is the place where the daintiness of the details meets authenticity. According to the season, different fruits and veggies are grown as well as olive oil and wine are produced in the estate. The pasta is home made daily from the Masseria wheat flour and so are the cakes and friselle. A real treatment for your palate, wellness and soul!

Charme and authenticity 

I had the privilege of attending a magnificent wedding her at Masseria Mazzei - high on a hill top overlooking Rossano, Italy!  The property was beautifully manicured and the layout for the wedding just spectacular.  While I personally did not stay in the bed and breakfast, some of my other family members did.  The location is lovely, but not conducive to easy travel unless you have a rental car.  Taxi or car service down to the beach area is quite expensive and not readily available.  Other than a pool, there are no other activities available at the villa and food selections are very limited.  Great place to stay if you are attending a venue, but not one I would choose just to stay in for a bed and breakfast only - a little too remote!

Beautiful 15th Century Villa

This place is a what they call  "agrotourism", and they operate as a bed and breakfast. The location is not Rossano but close by and difficult to find the access from the main road. The rooms are very basic with AC and a fan. There is no wi-fi. Breakfast was good. The whole place in itself looks nice and the property is used to organize weddings and other type of parties. Manager and staff were helpful.

Average hotel in the Rossano area

We stayed at Le Coline Del Gelso for 5 nights in October 2014.  Le Colline Del Gelso exceeded all of our expectations.  Although not much English is spoken by the staff, they were very patient with our rudimentary Italian and translation apps.  We were the only guests on site and we were given a free upgrade, a very pleasant suprise.  There is construction going on as the facility is expanding, but it was not bothersome in the least.  There were some dogs on site, and this was a welcome site for us since we are dog people.  The dogs were very friendly.  Most imporatntly, all the the staff were friendly and helped us whenever we had requests.  Our highlight were Maria's breakfasts.  We had something new and fresh out of the oven each morning as well as the typical Italian breakfast items (cheese, meat, fruit, pasteries).  Maria always greeted us with a smile and always made sure our room was good.  We had a bit of an electrical problem on the first day, but Carmine took care of it immediately.  We had one dinner and it was excellent and very traditional Calabrese...just what we were hoping for.  The location is beautiful as you can see old Rossano, and the Ionian Sea from the deck.  It is easy to find, well signed and plenty of parking.  It was quite, bathrooms were nice size and we had a kichenette for our stay in meals.  Overall, you can not go wrong with Colline Del Gelso.  Our only very minor complaint is the lack of WIFI, but the agriturismo up the road let us use theirs.

Wonderful Staff, Location, and Facility

That is the best selling point of this gorgeous place. On top of a hill, overlooking hills full of olive and fruit trees, in the distance the sea and mountains. A beautiful and quiet garden, a lovely pool. We were there end of June and shared the place with only one other couple. It may be much more crowded in July or August. The en suite rooms are large, simply furnished in style, with kitchen, bathroom and little patio. There is a tv (and dvd player), but we only managed to receive one channel.
Breakfast is good, except for the coffee - instant (!) and that in Italy.
The only downside was that the kitchen was closed and there was no place in the neighbourhood either where we could have lunch or diner. This may have been because we were early in the season.

Otherwise a great place and a pitty we only had 1 night!
