When I travel, I look for a reasonable price and a quiet place, preferably near to the train station. All I really need is a place to lay my head and recharge my existence a bit. Da Zio Pino fit the bill. I took a walk up the the Centro Storico (about 45-50 minutes walking), but enjoyed my dinner nearby the hotel, which is close to the sea and a few dining areas. The real seller was that Jose, the proprietor, picked me up AND dropped me off at the train station. I had zero expectations of such wonderful service. It was really pleasant, and he was quite friendly and spoke good English.

Bare Bones, but Pleasant.

I don't evening know where to begin..
I cam here on holiday with my boyfriend and we had an amazing time!!
Firstly we were greeted at the train station by Jose' and speaking honestly we have never received such a warm welcome from anyone before! It was very home-like of him.
When we arrived to the B&B he showed us to our room and showed us how to work everything.

The next morning was even better, he offered us breakfast (it was included in the price) but it was an amazing breakfast! There were loads of different foods for every taste - croissants filled with Nutella, little breakfast chocolate bars, toast, ham and salami with bread, yogurts and he also offered to make us any hot drink.

During the day we would go to the beach and explore the town and every time we came back to the B&B Jose would always greet us with a massive smile - he even challenged my boyfriend to a game of FIFA on the PlayStation.

On our departure day Jose' gave us a lift to the train station. 
Everyone there was so kind and I think that is what made our stay so enjoyable.

Overall we had an absolutely brilliant stay and we would definitely return here.

AMAZING STAY!!

Da Zio Pino is a homey B&B located in the Fiumicello  neighborhood of Maratea, Basilicata's tiny slice of the Tyrrhenian Coast.  It's an amazing, scenic, costal town tucked between mountains that go down to the sea. In my opinion, it's far more impressive than Big Sur, California.  According to people from the region, there's a part of the coastline only accessible by boat, that has clearest, pristine waters in the country.  We were greeted by José, our main man who settled us into a small but warm room, with a bathroom that has the world's skinniest shower stall, but makes up for the size by the flashing, colored lights on the shower head!
Obviously, this town is frequented by more visitors during warmer months, although the beds are equipped with down comforters, for us low season travelers, the only guests that night.  The B&B has an adjacent common room next door, that serves as a breakfast room, with a nice fireplace and friendly locals who drop by to visit.  José prepared a fabulous spread for breakfast.  We enjoyed talking with him and a gentleman who lives near the Cristo Rendentore statue on Monte San Biagio, our next stop before leaving the region.  'Next trip we must spend more time getting to know this gorgeous area.

Casual, Cozy B&B

This is a nice little two star place, clean, simple and quiet. The rooms are smallish but well maintained, while the bathrooms are fairly tight. The front rooms look out over a service station towards the sea, while the back rooms have no view. The owner is particularly obliging and will pick you up from and drop you back to the station. Breakfast is the usual offering of sweet pastries but if you ask for what you want the day before then the owner will try to accommodate you. The wifi signal is good.

Clean and simple

I just ran across a nice leather key chain that the owner of this nice establishment gave me and my husband when we stayed there some time ago.  We were making our way south from the Amalfi coast down to Sicily and stumbled across this charming city of Maratea.  We were so fortunate to find this lodging as it was winter and almost everything along the way had been closed.  The owner was lovely--got us situated, even helped us with our luggage.  

My husband and I highly recommend you stop here for a very reasonable accommodation--very clean as well.  Maratea is a jewel of a city and referred to as the 'Amalfi Coast' of the Italians (a hidden secret!)

Thank you so much for a nice stay--we hope to return some day.  We are from California and love to travel/drive through Italy whenever we have an opportunity.
