Hotel Club La Costa Smeralda

This hotel/resort seems to have different meal packages that you can purchase. We had breakfast and dinner but we had to pay extra for a bottle of water/wine. They only deal in cash at the front desk where you purchase a 20 euro punch card. So choose what you purchase wisely otherwise you will be stuck buying another 20 euro punch card even though you just want a pop for 2 euros. They also require cloth bathing caps to be worn in the pool which they sell for 2 euros (on your punch card). The breakfasts were pretty good with beverages included. The dinner always started with pasta (al dente) and then you choose either meat or fish. Nothing fancy but not something I would normally order. The pool area was nice with lounge chairs and quite a few umbrellas. The entertainment crew entertained from morning till night. Nice crew but hardly speak any english so we did sign language. You may want to make sure of what room you are getting. We ended up with a basic cottage across the busy street. We were a little taken back at first but no kids seem to be over there so it was a quiet area with lots of parking. The room wasn't too big and the shower was small. AC worked great. No ice. They had nightly entertainment but in Italian. It looked like they were having great fun. Don't expect a broadway production! They have a shuttle every couple hours to the beach (10 minutes away). Ask for a beach umbrella from the van. Pizza place down the street supposed to be good. Book with care.
