we booked last minute and weren't disappointed. We were greeted with a friendly professional lady and got checked in quickly. We had to change our room due to an unforeseen issue and this very satisfactorily done in a timely manner.  The new room was perfect. As a measure of goodwill, we received a discount on our bill. Well done !
We ate a hearty breakfast both days & 1 dinner and I'm pleased to say the quality of the food was fabulous, with generous portions.
We were very impressed with Jamie for our archery session, he was funny and patient and we learned a lot from him.
The library area of the hotel is lovely to sit down and have a quiet chat/read with a few drinks/snacks. The wifi is not the quickest but that doesn't matter when you have all the outdoor activities to experience.

Great stay

I stayed here for four nights while climbing the nearby mountains. I made breakfast in the kitchen and ate in the restaurant where the food was lovely. The hostel was clean and well appointed and I had the room to myself for the entire time.

My only complaint is that there were a lot of kids in the hostel. They were participating in the activities that are available at the resort. This was not the problem. The problem was that staff used a very loud tannoy to shout at the kids for going into each others rooms etc. and on one morning I got woken by someone banging on my door. Why can't they turn the tannoy down.

Lovely hostel in a hotel resort

Stayed here for three nights with our four kids in August gone. We arrived after doing a shop for the few days as the hostel is far from a grocery shop. I went to the kitchen to leave the food in the fridge of which there was standard fridge freeze for the entire hostel.
It was jam packed mostly with milk - actually 35 litres .  went over to the hotel to ask what I should do with my food and they left in their kitchen. every time we needed to get something it was trek after trek after trek and an ordeal to say the least for the staff over at the hotel to get my stuff from the hotel fridge . two days later after being told the first day someone would tidy and clean out the fridge over in the hostel nothing was done , so I took it upon myself and most of the milk was a week or two out of date. WHY CAN'T YE PURCHASE AN EXTRA FRIDGE

We had a great stay at the Wild Atlantic Hostel. Some aspects are really excellent, and overall I would absolutely recommend it, but it is let down by a few aspects, 

The bedrooms/dorms are well designed with comfortable beds, cleverly designed individual lights/sockets/charging stations, bedding included and good ensuite. We had booked a private family 4-bed room but due to the guest mix we actually got a 10-bed dorm to ourselves. 
There is a nice kitchen/dining/sitting room upstairs and a common room/games room downstairs. 
Staff are very friendly, and everything is new and clean. Plus of course the hotel is right beside you so you can stay in the hostel and avail of the hotel facilities. The adventure centre activities are excellent and well run, and there is a lot to do independently too in this beautiful area. 

This hostel should be getting a 5/5, but it's let down by a few things, 
Firstly, the kitchen is not equipped to cope with the hostel capacity. There is one regular cooker (4 ring hob & oven) and one sink. There are not enough pots and pans, or enough cutlery. So there isn't really enough room for more than one group to cook at a time, and that is not good enough for a hostel of this capacity even after you allow for the fact that many guests will take advantage of the hotel facilities next door. 

The heating was not turned on in our bedroom and several others the first night, and the weather was really cold. (This was fixed for our second night). 

No mobile coverage, and the hostel wifi is patchy (it was pretty good the first night but then went down the 2nd day and never came back), so be sure to bring plenty of reading material or other non-internet dependent entertainment, 

Staff when there were really friendly and helpful, but often there wasn't anyone there, 

Overall, despite these quibbles, I do recommend this hostel, but

Comfortable and friendly hostel with amazing views

We stayed here on a short family break and were pleasantly surprised lovely comfy room warm,clean and tidy we had a family room three kids and two of us great bunk beds for the kids and a lovely double for us, Fab food great hearty breakfast and the staff couldn't do enough for you will defo go back the scenery is out of this world there.

great service and food

Great value, well designed rooms and facilities.  Nice firm mattresses and good blinds to keep it dark enough for our children (and us) to sleep well. The soundproofing wasn't brilliant but we'll definitely be coming back.  There were so many activities on offer that we didn't have time to try all we wanted.
