This is my second time at Laika's heritage stay in Mysore and I absolutely love it. The property is a beautiful old heritage house surrounded by a big beautiful garden located in a quiet street of Mysore. The rooms are excellent with very comfortable beds, very nice shower and beautiful vintage furniture. The common spaces are also very pleasant and pleasing to the eye. On top of all of this the service is great and breakfast is nice.  There is a very friendly dog (Stoney) present, who is very enthusiastic and sweet. Definite recommendation!

The best place to stay in Mysore. my wife and I tried several hotels, but we ended up always wanting to come back to Laika (we would have stayed there for our whole stay in Mysore, I f it wasn’t for the fact that Laika was fully booked in the weekends). This beautiful and quiet property has four spacious and air conditioned rooms with very comfortable beds. It’s located in a residential area, so it is quiet there. but the hotel is still close to everything in Mysore. Just a quick tuk-tuk away from all the touristic stuff. There are a lot of yoga shalas in the neighborhood (one great one in the parallel road, 2 min walk). The hotel staff is great. They are very friendly, cooks fantastic Indian food and makes the best coffee we have had in India so far. We also loved the adorable dog that roams the property. We would not choose another place to stay in Mysore.

Amazing management, location, food, organization and clean hostel. You can breath positive energy in this hostel meeting travelers and the staff self. The mornings are magical with delicious traditional South Indian masala yummy dosas and the evenings very spiritual with some yoga practice. 

Highly recommended.

PLEASE NOTE: La Villa is under new management.  I went after the management change and all I can say is John is a wonderful host.  The property is beautiful.  Bedrooms was very comfortable and made me feel like I was back in the colonial period.  It was a great stay all around.  Highly recommended.

From the friendly welcome in the first minute of my arrival until I had to say goodbye at the end of 6 days, everything about La Villa, run by Magali and Patrice, was wonderful. 
Delicious breakfasts cooked by chef Patrice, spotless rooms with tasteful designs and decor, well informed advice as to where to go and what to do, and above all, outstanding service and attention to every detail. It was by far the best place I have ever stayed at in Mysore. I can highly recommend it to anyone wanting a piece of paradise in Mysore. Will definitely come again.

A piece of paradise in Mysore

I had booked the hotel after checking the reviews at yatra and we were mighty disappointed. We had booked the suite room for my family and my parents that was supposed to accommodate 4 adults and a kid. However it is actually just a slightly bigger room where they provide 2 extra mattresses (note, mattresses not beds or cots). The only thing that we had complimentary in our booking was the WiFi and they did not give WiFi details because of 'technical issues' all through the stay. We asked for 2 cups of tea that came a full 1 hour later (am not exaggerating the time, it was exactly 1 hour later after multiple reminders) with the rude note that the minimum value for room delivery has to be 75 Rs. The man sitting at the front desk was outright rude and combative at the time of check-in while telling that PAN cards are not accepted as proof of Identity anymore. There are no extra facilities in terms of gym or swimming pool. The rooms are big and well decorated but very poorly designed. Bathroom shower flooded the bathroom floor after one person taking bath because the drain doesn't, well, drain very well. There is just basic stuff in the room (no fridge, no tea - kettle or tea/coffee making stuff. Water gets charged extra every time you ask for it and they don't give free extra water bottles even for suite rooms that have 4 people staying) . Parking limited to 4 - 5 cars in the basement and whatever number (5-6) can be parked outside the hotel on the pavement. This parking is shared between the hotel guests and restaurant guests. So, good luck with that. Overall poor experience. If you have stayed in Europe Etap Hotels, this is just the even more basic Indian version of it at at much higher price. Would not recommend, would not re-visit. 
The only good thing about the place is that most of the places are close by, but that holds true for so many other hotels in Mysore that it is kind of a moot point.

Average to poor

Spacious high ceilinged rooms with fans, around a central courtyard where Patrice provides an excellent breakfast. A good central location with a lovely garden to relax in after visiting the many sights in Mysore. Except for a slight confrontation on arrival with our good driver as to who was going to carry the bags in, ( He did not like being ordered about). Magali made us very welcome. Everything is in very good taste and in character with the style of the house.
