Our trip was outstanding. From accomadtiond, service, amenities and most importantly the staff are like one big happy family. 
So welcoming to us all. 
We managed to fit in 4 trips and saw the Tigers each time. Cannot explain just how excellent the naturalists are at locating the tigers. Stunning animals. We saw many more animals n birds but for me being up close to the tigers was magical. 
Lea the chef went above and beyond for us/me especially as I can’t eat spicy food. 
I would 100% recommend this trip and we will be returning. Amazing experience n memories ❤️🙆‍♀️

Unbelievable experience - Trip of a lifetime

Just returned from the trip of a lifetime. Attended Bagh villas for my husband’s 50th with family and friends and had the most incredible experience. The accommodation was beautifully kept. The staff were so personable and food was delicious. They went out of their way to cater for my friend’s diet and ensured everyone was well looked after. The safari’s were both well organised and lead by highly experienced staff who know just where to place the jeep to get the best views of tigers ( and this was the case with all 5 safaris we did). I felt safe at all times. Even though we chose to do 2 safaris a day, there was enough time in the middle of the day to swim in the pool and recharge. A wonderful first trip to the jungle and I hope to return to Bagh villas again in the future!

Incredible 50th birthday

I came here with a group of closed friends and family to celebrate my 50th birthday. I last came here in 2019. I have been fortunate to travel to many beautiful places over the years but this is where I chose to spend my birthday..

We spent 3 nights and went on 4 safaris into the forest. The sightings were great. Aside from the beauty of the forest, bagh vilas is a truly special place..

The tents are fantastic. The food is out of this world . The pool refreshing . The nature guides are supremely knowledgeable. The place is run by Umesh and his wife Lia.. the service is truly personal and special.

What an amazing holiday. The staff were incredible and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was marvellous, the lodges were beautiful and we had a superb guide who was very knowledgeable on the wildlife. Interesting conversations with the staff who also were naturalists and highly intelligent.  Would recommend for all ages as the consideration given for our comfort was beyond anything we have ever encountered.

Holiday

After a couple of hectic days exploring Chennai and Goa, we arrived at Bagh Villas for a 4-night stay. We had booked in the hopes of emersing ourselves in nature whilst not sacrificing on luxury. Bagh Villas exceeded our expectations in both! 

We were warmly greeted by owners, Lia and Akhilesh, and staff members offering us cold towels and fresh watermelon juice. We were fortunate to be upgraded to the larger tent, which had a comfortable king-size bed and amazing bamboo rainfall shower. (I’m fussy when it comes to accommodation and am not a fan of bugs, so was a little worried when we booked that we may have some visitors, but was pleased to find the tent absolutely spotless.)

On our first evening, we enjoyed a campfire with Lia and Akhilesh and naturalists, Prahlad and Mohan. We were delighted to be shown the stars through a very impressive telescope and even saw the moons of Jupiter. We then enjoyed a traditional Indian dinner outside, under the attentive eyes of waiting staff, who offer more of a each dish the second your plate is empty. The food was amazing, and Bagh Villas caters very well for vegetarians. 

We headed back to our tent, very well fed, to find hot water bottles thoughtfully placed inside our bed. Housekeeping had also placed little flowers all around our room… and folded my partners clothes which he’d left on the floor in a hurry!

The next morning, organic coffee and delicious homemade buscuits were brought to our tent, before leaving for safari at 5:30am. We climbed into the SUV, and staff members brought us blankets and hot water bottles. We were also given binoculars. 

Naturalist, Prahlad, took us on safari each day and his excellent knowledge and clear love of nature made for an unforgettable experience. Prahlad often stopped to point out eagles, owls, and other interesting birds which we never would have been able to spot had we been alone. He also taught us about warning calls of monkeys and deers, which guides use to track down tigers and leopards. It was so very interesting to learn from Prahlad about all the animals of Kenha National park and their behaviour.

We were provided with a superb picnic style breakfast at around 9:00am, which consisted of seriously tasty bananas (just harvested from right outside our tent), boiled eggs from Bagh Villa’s resident chickens, sandwiches, dosas, Lia’s homemade biscuits and cakes, more fresh watermelon juice and tea/ coffee. 

A couple more hours enjoying safari, and then we were greeted back at the Bagh Villas by staff with cool towels and fresh ginger tea. 

Lunch was then served, which consisted of a homemade soup, main and dessert. Each day we enjoyed a different cuisine - Indian, Thai, Italian - each as enjoyable as the last. 

That afternoon, we received a call to our tent, offering a variety of activities; guided bike rides, bird walks with Prahlad the naturalist, or a tour of a nearby village. Between these activities, safari, enjoying the pool, and copious amounts of food every moment was special. 

The next couple of days followed in this same routine, of great food, incredible sightings of animals, and dinner under the stars. Our tent was made up by housekeeping staff, at least 6/7 times per day. Their attention to detail was seriously impressive.

It is evident that Lia and Akhilesh both deeply care about the environment. Bagh Villa’s is practically self-sufficient, with an on-site organic garden and solar panels. Most importantly, the tap water, which we could not drink in the other places we had stayed, resulting in usage of a shameful amount of plastic bottles, was filtered. The pool also had a special filtration system, so that no chemicals were needed. Bagh Villas also employs people from local villages.

This is by far the longest review I have ever written. Having had such a positive and unique experience, I felt compelled to try and write something which would do this place justice.

The most incredible stay at Bagh Villas!!

My family visited Bagh villas. We had an amazing time. The staff are very helpful and courteous and met every request with a smile. The property is beautiful. It’s a great escape from everyday life. The rooms were large and luxurious. Very well located and equipped for safaris.

Amazing experience and service 

Bagh Villas Jungle Camp & Spa,Kanha National Park

This is by far the most amazing privately run non-chain resort, we have ever been to in India.

Only the superlatives  are applicable to this jingle camp & spa.

Charming place, exquisitely maintained 10 tent -villas,spread, with an infinity pool and spa.A dainty shop selling life style products, very boutique. And in a beautiful setting

Run by a most efficient couple Mr Akhilesh Nair & his beautiful wife Lia with an excellent eye for minutest of details,ranging from very well appointed tents,provides with high end fittings and bathroom wares to a fine dine experience for every meal.

Almost all objects of use,the wash basins to flush to all that you can use & what not, had a small petal put on it making the whole experience so … so very special.

Akhilesh and his very fit team were up & ready every morning, before 5am to see all of us , off for the safari, with all things provided in the jeep,like binoculors,blankets,cold water.Always very enrgetic & smiling …. to such an extent… it was enigmatic. And the same on our return….he was always there and practically every where.

His wife Lia would personally serve meal with a warm smile.
All meals were thoughtfully curated ….. even taking care of individual need….like vegan food .

BF was understambly neatly packed , with sufficient variety of sanwiches/parathas,eggs,fruit,tea coffee & breads.

Lunch on our return from safari was purposely kept light on the stomach, with soup, salad,pizzas pastas,thai and chinese,keeping in mind afternoon safaris.

After round of drinks near the poolside,very well provided with munchies & starters,dinner was served of Indian meals on all days.

Our whole group of 6 with some other acquaintances and guests on the same table,all preparation served in perfect order under the watchfull eyes of the couple.

Housekeeping was to another level.Where in the world wud you get to see your room being done up 4 times a dqy , the moment you leave the room to the time you come back from your safaris & meals, everything , from towels to hand towels,the toiletries, foot mats and room slip ons all things were put back in its original  place.And the bed was always done up .

I think besides them,they have instilled the OCD in each and every staff member to the extent they have been regimented like robots to put things exact back in same,every single time,if any thing is out of its place.Even the crease on the sofa or a pillow is ironed up by hand.

The spa area is also in a nice and quite side of the main building and nicely appointed room, with water bodies, light fresh fragrance and soft soothing music,
caressing you,during the spa.And the treatment is excellent.

All in All a very memorable experience.Making new friends was a plus.

If you want a big-cat PURRFECT visit to Kanha, there is really only one place to stay: book yourself ASAP at the amazing BAGH VILLAS! Lose your iphone and connect with yourself in the verdant grounds with wild jackal and deer darting past your verandah. Sleep like a baby in the environmentally conscious-meets-luxury tents and soak up the delightful infinity pool, spa and well-stocked library. (Read The Man-eaters of Kumaon to scare yourself silly before your early morning safari!) Allow the staff to indulge you in a delicious tour of world cuisines sourced locally and organically, and spend the evening in perfect privacy, or enjoy a chhota-peg with your fellow travellers while being regaled by Srikanth’s shikar stories.  You won't want to rush back home. Stay an extra day or two and enjoy walking and cycling through this beautiful part of India with its friendly villages, fruit orchards and vegetable farms. 

The staff really know their stuff, and are proud of what they do.  Every detail has been thought through, from the creative landscaping down to the selection of sharp-eyed guides who virtually ensure a big-cat sighting. (We saw two tigers in three half-day safaris). Bagh Villas' secret is their unique blend of professional and personal. Everything is managed meticulously with respect for the environment and the local population. Your every need is anticipated and you feel truly welcome and cared for every minute of your stay.  This is true hospitality at its very best. 10 Stars for Bagh Villas!


A roaringly fabulous stay at Bagh Villas Kanha!

We just returned from a  trip to  Kanha  and can’t wait to go back again. We spent three nights in the glorious Bagh Villas & despite being the avid jungle travelers that we are,it was actually difficult to leave the beautiful rooms & get into the safari jeeps.
The rooms , the furnishings, the furniture, everything was beyond perfection. And the cuisine..delicious and nutritious. Whoever said healthy food isn’t tasty seriously needs to check into Bagh Villas just to enjoy Lia’s cooking & presentation.Also, don’t even get me started on the hospitality. It was truly a privilege & a pleasure to be able to spend time with Lia & Akhilesh , Shrikanth & the gang of ever smiling boys & the adorable Mohuya. 
Bagh Villas is head & shoulders above all of the other jungle resorts we have been to..& we have been to some of the very best.

Paradise 

Just returned from this amazing resort near Mukki zone of Kanha National Park.  I visited this very well run resort in 2018 when it was fairly new and was charmed by the professional yet warm attitude of the husband wife duo - Akhilesh and Lia. After five years I find they have taken the class and quality of the place several notches higher. There is only one word for the tent suite where we stayed, "fabulous".... Every time we were out of the tent, on return we would find the place spic and span with every detail being taken care of in a totally unobtrusive manner. The food was simple but wholesome and tasty, served in different locations of the property. I loved our drinks and dinner at a cosy open area under the starry sky filled with the scent of the flowering Hasnahana, looked after by the ever attentive resort personnel. 
All our safaris were taken care of by the extremely knowledgeable and ever smiling naturalist Srikant.
The review won't be complete without a special mention and a big THANK YOU and kudos to Akhilesh. I  had a medical emergency in the middle of the night and he was right there all along from driving me to the clinic and following it up the next morning. A thorough professional but with that extra unique humane touch...
