Very good location, quite, spacious room and comfortable bed.

We were expecting a guest house room but we were given a charming log cabin set away from the main house with spectacular views looking over the water towards Kirkjufell and the surrounding mountains. The cabin has a nice shower and basic cooking facilities which was really handy. As a photographer I was thrilled to capture the Northern Lights on our first night, streaking over the sky in front of the cabin and another morning we woke up to pristine snow. It was a magical stay, thank you to the host ☺️

A magical few days!!

Came into town a bit famished and somewhat underwhelmed by previous dining experiences.   Sudur has made up for all of them.   From the lamb, wild game platter, and pizza (yes, pizza), everything pleases and sates the palate.  The host was also gracious and engaging.

Dinner in Vik

Located on a remote road and overlooking the water, the Sudur-Bar Guesthouse is a comfortable place to stay in this part of Iceland.  We had a room with a private bath and found it to be everything we needed.  The bed was comfortable (though the pillows were mushy.)  The bathroom was modern.  The breakfast was good.  The host was friendly and gracious.  The WiFi was solid.

We enjoyed our stay and, returning to this part of Iceland at a later time, we would stay here again.

Comfortable, Beautiful Surroundings, Good Breakfast

I have spent 14 days in Sudur Bár during my quarantine time after arrival to Iceland in the end of May. The place is just stunning - great location, breathtaking views, cozy, nice and clean accommodation, excellent host Marteinn - what else do you need for the quarantine time!?
This cozy Bed and Breakfast type of accomodation is situated in such location that you have the view over Kirkjufell 24/7, there are plenty of possibilities to take a walk on the beach or climb the near mountain Klakkur which offers great views over Grundarfjordur... Well I must say that those 14 days were definitely not enough! For sure I will be back and I can´t already wait! :-)

The best place to spend quarantine!

We loved this guesthouse and would be delighted to stay here again if we visit in the future. My husband and I stayed in one of the private rooms in the outdoor cottage and our experience was great. The room had plenty of space, the bathroom had room for personal items, and the beds were comfortable. There is no TV in the room, but you don’t need it with the amazing views outside. You’re in Iceland, enjoy nature! The only thing we could say we wish was different was the hot water. You only got about 10 minutes of hot water in the shower before it ran out, so be mindful when in there. Other than that we enjoyed the breakfast, the location, and the views. Our friends stayed here as well (we were three couples who booked) and they had the same things to say and each felt positive about our accommodations.  Enjoy!

Amazing views and clean rooms 

We expected a simple room in the house with plain furnishings and a bathroom.
We were given a delightful room in a log cabin which was fully lined with pine panelling, had a small but very comfortable bedroom but also had a sitting area, kitchen and bathroom. It was a quite delightful place to stay and we wish we had been able to stay another night but our schedule did not allow for that. The best bit was the incredible view of mountains and sea from the room.
Marteinn is a kindly and helpful host and the breakfast provided was excellent
In all a real delight to be there as a guest

The position is peaceful and quiet but just a few minutes drive to Grundarfjorour where there is a superb restaurant, Bjargarsteinn, by the harbour  - you will need to book this one as it is very popular

Charming comfortable Guesthouse with fabulous views

We stayed in the cottage in early May, separate from the house. The property has spectacular views, and you can walk around the fields and down to the beach. There s also hiking on the other side of the road. The host was warm and hospitable. She provided an excellent breakfast in the main house which was immaculately maintained.

Highly recommend

You can't beat the location, about 7 kms out of town.  Wonderful views of Kirkjufell, the town, bay and mountains from this farm converted into a guest house.  I stayed in a cottage and found it very comfortable.  The cottage had kitchen facilities, but the town has plenty of dining options as well.  Breakfast was good, the owner quiet but friendly.  I would definitely stay here again.

Awesome views.

We stayed in room 4 which was very reasonably sized. We had 2 single beds and enough space for our suitcases and to spread our stuff for 2 nights. We especially liked the little sink in our room - so you can freshen up and brush teeth without having to go to the shared bath. 

Breakfast was excellent. They serve a home made „slow-cooker-bread“ to die for. Coffee and hot water are there all day. 

There is no kitchen to use.
