Rose Guesthouse

We needed a room for one night near the airport. I was fortunate to find the Rose Guesthouse. It was lovely. Room, beds and bathrooms were very nice and the place is clean and attractive. Highly recommended for an overnight or more!

We booked ourselves into the Rose Guesthouse because we had an early flight home. The person who checked us in (probably owner) was super helpful checking us in, gave us the best room available and it was all done within minutes. He also organised us a cab for 5 am so we didn't have to do that. We were in walking distance to all the foodplaces in town and saw some crazy northern light from the porch that night. Definitely a great choice if you arrive super late or leave super early. Check out the lava fields in the area, its 15 minutes from the blue lagoon or the techtonic plates adrift in Grindavik. Oh, that kitchen was full of food - left by other travellers we suppose - so there is no issue if the shops are closed - you won't starve in that guesthouse!

Stayed one night there, because wenn arrived late at night. Friendly Staff, nice rooms. We will definetly come again. Breakfast is not included, but we got coffee an the possibilty to make our own breakfast.

The place is spotless, so clean! Full equipped kitchen, great shower (tub), cozy room and prime location.
We just did not understood that it is basiclly a home stay, some one's house, and a bunch of rooms for rent and the kitchen and living room as a common area, we prefer more of a hostel vibe.

Weird concept

We stayed here for our last night in Iceland as we needed to be to the airport at 5am and the location is perfect. The owner of the property was very responsive and while not on site when we arrived, was there within 5-minutes to check us into the property. The bedrooms were nice and were well equipped with towels, bedding, etc. She had biscuits available to snack on and there is wifi throughout the property. It is very conveniently located to the airport.
We had specifically booked this guesthouse as it was one of two properties that showed up in Keflavik with a hot tub. However, the hot tub was broken when we arrived. My husband contacted the owner to see if we were just missing operating instructions and she let us know that it was broken and that this should have shown up when we booked the property. It didn't and we were a little disappointed that we were unable to use a hot tub on our last in Iceland. The house was also a little dirty. There was quite a bit of clutter on the tables, dust, hair in the drain in the bathroom, pizza boxes laying around that the owner picked up when she arrived, etc. It appeared that it may have been awhile since the house had been thoroughly cleaned. 
I would not recommend this guesthouse if you will be staying in Keflavik for several days and exploring the area, but for a short overnight close to the airport it served its purpose.
