Hotel Old Bucanners

I discovered this place while looking for a tranquil, private, fairly priced hotel in front of the beach, where I could take my guests and spend a relaxing afternoon without the hustle and bustle of the city and without having to drive miles away from all the mayor tourist attractions. As the owner of an ultralight aerial tourism business, I needed a place where I knew my customers would enjoy a full-on, awesome experience of La Ceiba which included flying, having the beach as your front yard (literally), and a beautiful, private place to stay for the weekend. This was no easy task since none of the hotels in the city offer as much value for your money as Old Buccaneers. Quite simply, when comparing the setting, service and pricing, no other hotel near La Ceiba even comes close. To get to the hotel you simply drive into a paved road across the street from Goloson International Airport and in five minutes you're in paradise. The owners, a couple, Eduardo from Argentina and Melissa from Honduras, are some of most welcoming, friendly people you'll ever meet, and if you need anything their house is located on the same grounds as the hotel and you can just walk up and knock on their door. I remember forgetting my keys inside my room one time and when I went to ask for a spare they even offered to have me over and join them and their kids for dinner! Aside from these amazing hosts, the hotel grounds themselves are incredible. They're so big, Eduardo, who's also a professional tennis instructor, managed to build five professional clay tennis courts beachside! On top of that, the beach, stretches all the way up to the front deck of the rooms, so you can pretty much ditch your flip flops and feel the sand under your feet as you make your way over white picket fencing and into the Caribbean. Bonfires and charcoal grilling is a must at nighttime. The rooms are quite modest but have a cozy, rustic feel, which I enjoy because it makes the entire experience more authentic and that's what I was looking for when looking for a place. I strongly recommend visiting this place either as a large group or as a couples retreat. You won't regret it.
