The best Taverna in Frangokastello, if not Crete. Fantastic home cooking, brilliant value and a very warm welcome. I especially enjoyed the chicken and cinnamon, and Moussaka. Absolutely nothing to complain about, loved this taverna. Will visit again and again.

Best Taverna 

Really great value traditional  food and a friendly family-run taverna with great service. We ate here twice during our stay in Frangokastello and really enjoyed both meals.The food is the best value available locally and always good specials on offer.

Taverna Review

Did not stay here, but stopped to eat at the restaurant. Souvlaki with pita was cheap and delicious. They fired up the grill just for us, and it was very much a family atmosphere. Wished we had time to stay longer.

Restaurant cheap and excellent

Iwas only early Septmeber but it appeared end of season already. We were the only lunchtime customers and the apartments did not appear to have any residents. Decent pita gyros and bottled fix for under 10 euros for 2

Taverna review only

We had booked for 14 days with Ledakis Studios in Frangokastello, but only stayed for 4, as we were not happy with the accommodation. 

The nice thing about Ledakis Studios is its location near the beach (400 m), but the apartment itself is in need of an upgrade/ serious maintenance. 

We were in room 3. The lock of the front door barely works, there are no decent kitchen utensils (We bought our own frying pan and coffee mugs), the fridge almost topples over when opened, the airco’s remote control sometimes does not work, as its battery is held in place with duct tape. When it rained, water started dripping from the bathroom ceiling. There are no shower curtains, the shower hose leaks, so taking a shower results in flooding of the bathroom. There is free wifi, but it did not work 50% of the time.

On our first night there was a power outage in the region, and we spend a hot sleepless night, since, without airco, we had to keep the windows closed; there are no mosquito screens. 

On the positive side: the apartment was fairly clean (one gets fresh bedlinen and towels every 3 days) and the balcony (with seaview) is nicely shaded with trees. The housekeeping family who also run the restaurant are very friendly. 

We did not try its restaurant. As the overall level of the facilities was so low, we saw no point in complaining and decided to find another accommodation. It took a few days, but we found that one can get better accommodation in the area for the price Ledakis charges (35€ per day). 

We asked for a refund, but have not received it.

(We booked through AirBnB and gave it an average 2 out of 5 star rating, but AirBnB changed this into 4,5 out of 5... Tripadvisor has more reliable ratings!)
