Hi can anyone tell me if Paradise Taverna is still open, we have been going on and off since 1988 and can't seem to find out any details , we have read somehere that it's closed, and also Visilikas Stellios tavern is too, which is Dina's other Sons

Is Paradise still open,

Very disappointed, ordered zucchini which came wet and not crispy, let it go and ordered the lamb in tomato sauce. When it came it looked fab, perhaps too much sauce. But I couldn't cut into it, had to hack it with full strength, once I got a lump separated it was very chewy. Made a quiet complaint and said to the waiter, you try cutting it. It's OK I believe you and took it away, virtually the whole meal. In came the grapes and tumbler of raki. Asked for bill, and it came in full. Said to waitress about the quality and she said they serve hundreds and nobody complains, perhaps we Don't understand lamb meals. We have lived in Crete for nine years, we dine out locally several times a week where we live in Agios Nikolai's and certainly know about Greek food. No compensation or alternative food was offered. Terrible attitude, couldn't care less. Shame as the place and the service was excellent but food certainly below par, avoid as better places nearby

Syay away

Traditional Family run Taverna offering good cretan home cooking. You will be taken into the kitchen (like they did back in the day) and shown all the specials. Very friendly - could not recommend this place enough.


We have been eating here for over 25 years

This place is perfect for everybody who like to get the taste of real Greek food from a real lovely Greek family! The friendly and funny landlord gives you a view of the pot with the fresh food which changes every day! The Taverne is furnished in a Greek style which leads to a feelgood factor at night! 
The apartments are new, clean and well furnished. You can walk in 5 minutes to the see or go to the new pool which is in the middle of the apartments!

We really enjoy the time and especially the conversations with the friendly landlord and it’s family! 

Beautiful and familiar Taverna and Apartments

Set back off the main square, the Paradise offers traditional Greek and Mediterranean food at reasonable prices. The staff all work hard to ensure that customers receive the best service. Diners are encouraged to visit the kitchen to see the specials of the day. Exceptionally clean, welcoming and friendly. Only open from 18.30 for dinner. Staying guests also have breakfast. Visited twice during a two week stay and would highly recommend.

Very good accomodation and service 

Very nice family's taverna, everyday serves really great dishes from the authentic Greece home cuisine. We visited them few times in our vacation two years ago as well as this time. Best recommendation for families!! The best bolognese ever, lamb and anything we tried. Provide fresh fruits for dessert OTH.

Best taverna in geoergopoli

I have been here first in 1990 and returned approx. 8 time over the years. The hotel and restaurant run by the family is one of the few where they serve fresh cooked traditional food and you can choose in the kitchen whilst looking into the pot. The hotel is simple but proper - looking forward to return again at some point.
