Arrived around 11.00pm room was poor and smelt damp asked to be moved but was told no other room available.  In the morning when we opened the shutters veranda completely shrouded in vegetation so explained the dampness smell.  Paint peeling from walls and mould growing in corners. Knobs missing from cupboard doors and shower water did not drain from shower room floor as drain hole higher than floor level (Could also contribute to damp smell).    Not enough utensils and pots to enable you to prepare meals if you wanted to do so.  Mixed cutlery and mis-matched plates, glasses etc.  At the end of first week asked to be moved as some people were leaving .  Moved over to room  across the road, well what a difference nice room with sunny balcony and much better shower room.  Still not enough cutlery and cooking items but hey ho room was a great improvement.   With just a little more thought this place could be much better.   On the whole very nice resort with plenty of places to eat at a reasonable cost.  Beach was lovely and the Asteria sunbeds were very reasonable at 8 euros for two beds with a padded mattress including parasol.   

Room for improvement 

Two brothers holding the apartments and the bar. Very friendly. Not farther 100 m from the sea. No chance to cook in the apartments, so spend money on restaurants. Price is a bit high. Located right on the main road, keep windows closed. Hospitality is in place. Sufficient bars and restaurants both on the beach and in the town.

We arrived at about 730am, after communicating this to the hotel twice via email, we  had to sit outside waiting for the housekeeper to come at 9am who informed us that she was not told about our arrival and it would be another 2hrs for our room to be ready.  Our IDs were never checked to make sure we were the people who reserved the room, nor did we have to fill out any paperwork.  The room itself was very poor - extremely small, mattresses are hard and there is only hot water at certain times during the day.  The only upside was that it is close to the beach - little did we know, that this did not mean that we were exempt from the 3 euros per day sunbed charge.  The owner insisted that we pay - unlike other restaurants along the beach that allow you to purchase a beer or drink instead of paying this, the owner rudely insisted that we must buy food or pay the 3 euros.   Needless to say, we went farther down the beach and found restaurants that were more inviting, friendly and offered better deals to use their sunbeds.  To top it off, they allowed about 7 young men to stay in a room next to us that meant loud music and yelling until about 4am each day - they have so called 'security' at night but nothing was done about this and there was a mess each morning from these parties.  Like I said earlier - don't stay here!!!

Don't stay here!

We stayed in marabou in may 2014. The property has 6 self catering studios right next to the sea. The studios are no where luxurious, but are reasonably clean with a great location.

1) no service in the rooms

While visiting zakynthos, one has to stay at the laganas. All the nightlife is around that place. We missed the nightlife coz the weather.

The navagio beach from top is quite breathtaking a sight and so are the blue caves (you need to swim in the blue caves)
