Our family felt very welcomed by the friendly team and the blissful surroundings at Onar. We will certainly be heading back in the future. It’s the perfect place for the kids to run wild and family to reconnect and unwind.

This place is truly magical. A secluded area in the valley of a mountain's nature reserve with the utmost perfect hospitality. Everything from the beach, the sounds, the stay, the staff was top notch.

Absolute Oasis

Our time at Onar was Magical!  This is a very special place and would highly recommend!  If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a peaceful and tranquil setting, delicious fresh food, gracious and kind hospitality, beautiful setting, then don’t miss an opportunity to stay here.  We are grateful for the wonderful experience and Teo and the entire staff were outstanding and truly made us feel welcome and were a highlight of our visit!
We stayed in a villa up in the hill with gorgeous views of the “private” beach and morning sun rises.  Everything was perfection.  We can’t wait to come back.

Onar is special place, which is a combination of the location and Onar community who are there to make your visit so unforgettable. There are few places like it, if any --- tranquil, scenic, and so relaxing.  

Onar, a special place with special people

Onar is an unique and magical place. All the family enjoyed it very much. Looking forward flying back. Food is delicious. Landcape great. Stone cottages great. Thanks to all the staff for the kindness.

Amazing and unforgetable place to rest and enjoy life

A special place to unwind for a few days. Very unlike many places in Greece now overrun with tourists. Service is responsive and warm, food/drinks good, rooms very comfortable, and the property and beach stunning. Please note that the access road  is steep and those that suffer from vertigo might have an issue - you can request a boat transfer from Andros town if needed.

Special with some caveats

Onar was beyond all expectations: incredible hospitality, spectacular location, scenery, beach of dreams, and a real opportunity to relax. I stayed in the superior villa which was incredibly comfortable for my family of 5. 

The entire team went the extra mile to help - whether incredible cocktails - top notch margarita's or whatever your tipple, delicious fresh food with daily specials- children loved it too, an insane massage from Aphrodite or enjoying the company of the charasmatic and charming Mateo and Theo, it was difficult not to feel very lucky to have discovered Onar. 

My children loved the adventure of walking up the river to a natural water hole, the pool area was lovely for a bit of a change, but Achla beach really is world class, remote, stunning and unspoilt. 

We had amazing fun getting a boat to Chora town and coming back in the dark - a real thrill for kids and us! 

You can dip in to socialising with interesting people from all over the globe after dinner, but equally we felt no pressure and at ease escaping at 11 back to our super comfortable and chic villa. 

Hard to find anything to feedback with advice on how to improve. It was a very special 4 days. We will be back.

Exceptional escape to a real slice of paradise

Onar is magical and we were lucky enough to spend a week there this September. The stone cottages are the kind of barefoot luxury that I dream of with lots of outdoor space and amazing views. Achla beach, of course, is stunning, and is just a short walk away through a path lined with wildflowers. Besides, the beach, the hotel is in a beautiful valley, with a stream and quiet pools surrounded by plane trees so there's a lot to explore. The hotel has its own organic farm and has been lovingly planted with hundreds of trees. Also making this place extra special is the warmth of the staff who go out of their way to make your stay comfortable.  The smiles you're greeted with here are genuine and while I can't say enough about the location and cottages, it's this kind of hospitality that made our trip. We traveled with our four year old who can't wait to go back. And neither can his parents.

The kind of place where you start planning your next trip as soon as you leave

This September we spent our vacation at Onar for the second time. And also this time it was vacation for body and soul. Unforgettable was our first arrival last year, when after self-contested way a beautifully lit area in the middle of nowhere appeared in front of us. Based on the journey, we knew we had found a place where not many people go and which would be perfect for a peaceful vacation. It is recommended to use the offered transport, because already an experienced driver needs 1 1/4 hours and the 8 km long dirt road can demand a lot from you, especially in the dark. And if one arrives nevertheless independently, a car with four-wheel drive should be used at least for it. However, who once arrived doesn’t want to leave anymore. When we entered the accommodation/house for the very first time and had a welcome drink in the open yet very cozy restaurant, the Onar had already captured our hearts. The houses, surrounded by oleander bushes, have a very restrained and quiet decor, which very much meets the need for distance from a stimulus-flooded everyday life. Many, for us well thought out, little things left hardly a need open. Dining groups on the terraces of the houses, very comfortable loungers always equipped with an extra towel. Extra "typical" beach towels. Incredibly soft and cozy shower towels 😄, sun sails and small chairs that are ready in the restaurant to take them to the beach and, as well as small cool bags. You can also find a small library and jogamats.
The food was very good last year and this year. And apart from a short period of 3.5 hours, there is the possibility to get breakfast, sancks (definitely more than just snacks), lunch and dinner, so you can basically eat your way through from eight in the morning until eleven in the evening. All meals and drinks could also be taken to your house. Also, the hillside pool with bar and its great view was always a good change from the beach for us. A great feel-good factor was that if you liked you could be all to yourself. At the same time, however, the warm, helpful and very attentive nature of the entire team gave us the feeling, despite the remoteness, to feel very cared for and never lonely.  So last year as well as this year we left this place with much melancholy and gratitude. 🤍
