We absolutely loved Kokodo! We cancelled a pre-booked night at another hotel nearer Kakum Forest, just so we could come back and stay at Kokodo again. The staff are so so friendly. The location is lovely and quiet but near to central Cape Coast. We were in room 5 which was enormous (the biggest bed we’ve ever seen!) and so bright and light, with lovely views over the surrounding trees. The bathroom was clean and spacious too. The food was delicious and the garden was lovely and green. A 5* experience and we hope to visit again in the future!

I've been bringing my groups to Kokodo for the past three years, and it's always a delightful experience. The guest house itself isn't large enough to accommodate my large groups, but Jeff consistently curates incredible meals for us. He goes above and beyond to make sure the experience is wonderful, from personally taxiing my guest with access issues up to the guesthouse from the road, to providing us with delicious Ghanaian delicacies from land and sea. The grilled lobsters are a must-try! His chefs are amazing, and we've dined in the the indoor dining room as well as the outdoor terrace on the hill with its tranquil vibe beautiful ambiance. Both experiences are outstanding, but if you can dine outside with a cold Orijin, don't miss this experience. Clean, comfortable, excellent food, and generous hospitality from the owner, what more could you want?

I stayed here for 2 nights with my partner. The lodge is on a quiet and peaceful hill just 5 minutes in a taxi from Cape Coast. Perfect location! It has beautiful trees and gardens, a lovely setting for eating breakfast on the balcony. Breakfast is delicious, an omelette with toast. The room (I stayed in room 1 in the main building near reception) was huge and clean. The bed is the biggest bed I have ever seen. The walk in shower was powerful and hot and lovely. There was a fridge and TV in the room, as well as air conditioning. All windows had mosquito nets so we had no problem with bugs at all. Ate in the restaurant on both nights and most of the food we tried was lovely and reasonably priced. Highly recommend this beautiful, peaceful lodge and will definitely return! 

The Kokodo is located just outside of town.You could walk into town, but I'm guessing it will take about 25-30 minutes. I took taxis and they charged me 10 cedis, which was inexpensive. The room I got was huge and the bed was enormous - it was a double, but I think 3 people could sleep in it! Very comfortable. The room was very clean. The air con worked and there was a ceiling fan. The bathroom was large as well, and there is also a vanity. The staff was lovely; however, they did not clean my room at all. I had to ask for clean towels and toilet paper after a couple days. Other than that, the service was fine. 

The restaurant was amazing. Everything I ate there was delicious and fresh. The restaurant is outdoors, but you can also eat inside. But it's so pleasant in the evening and there are many trees around, so you'll get a nice breeze! In the morning I had my breakfast in the front patio - very peaceful and pretty. The breakfast was an omelette, bread and Nescafe or tea and fresh juice.

I would stay here again, absolutely.

Green all around. Ambience on point! Rooms are neat and really big! I really loved the bar and eating area! Only bad for me is that outside noise penetrates into the rooms and breakfast could be varied. 

These stars are for the groovy building, peaceful location, the giant bed and Ibrahim the most gracious host. 
Apparently the house used belong to the bank manager, I don’t think much has changed since the 1950s! It’s not luxury or nouveau riche, but it’s clean, relaxing and honestly priced. It is very close to town but far enough removed to feel like a retreat. We just walked into town and took a tuk tuk back (no more than 5 mins) you can flag lots of taxis down easily from the bottom of the private road. It is a good base for visiting historical sites and also the National park. 
An enormous bed, good air con and ceiling fan, home cooked food and great service from Ibrahim. The outside terrace is a real treat, spacious and sheltered by trees, we ate there and also rested, playing cards, watching birds in the woods. We found it so relaxing we extended our stay by two days.

we opportunistically looked at the guest house as a place to stay. our taxi driver recommended the restaurant. we were warmly welcomed by the owner who showed us to our room. later that evening we had a fantastic meal, extra care had been taken to dress the table upon our request to eat on the balcony.  the grounds were well kept with tropical plants. the staff were attentive, polite and friendly. The best of it all was the excellent food. no request was too much to ask of the staff. we will definitely return.

The establishment is a bit hidden away offering a great opportunity of quietness and seclusion from the surrounding city while still not being far away.

Sitting on a hilltop the place gives a good view of the surroundings and the interior and exterior dining areas are well furnished and pleasant.

We only visited in order to get something to eat for dinner. The boiled plantain with palava sauce (kuntumrie) was some of the best I have had so far in Ghana.

A hidden gem

Firstly, be aware that the place is a long way out of town with nothing going on around it. Thus, you are stuck here.
The amenities are basic, which makes the place expensive by Ghana standards. The main problem is the staff; although there are lots of them, they are pretty useless and have no initiative. One day I returned to find my room unmade; the guy said it was because I had locked the door!!!

More staff than guests, but still unable to cope!

In general we were disappointed with the service. Nobody cleaned our room or anything like that during our four days stay! There was only one towel in the room when we arrived. I asked for new ones, but only got them the day we were leaving. We also had to ask for toilet paper twice. I guess that was because nobody did anything with our room during our stay. There was also some issues with the electrical systems when we arrived. The power was not gone, but the air-condition did n`t work, nor did the lights in our room. But after some hours they managed to fix it (change a fuse?). 
Things went really slow at the guesthouse. We waited 1,5 hours for our dinner one of the days without any particular reasons given to us. That is too long even for Ghana. Some of the staff were nice to us, but in general it seemed like they didn`t enjoy being there. 
In general there seemed to be a lack of management. 
It also felt a bit strange that the family of the manager was using the lobby of the guesthouse as their living room. It felt a bit like we were at their house.

The room was nice, with air-condition and a big bed. Even though it took a while to get something to eat, they tried their best at providing one of us with a vegetarian friendly meal. One of the staff members, Simon, was very friendly to us.
