A small but fine, family-run hotel with excellent gastronomy. Lovely decorated rooms with comfortable character. Not huge, but cozy. Uniquely a great kitchen, hearty frankincense and possibly the best Italian cuisine. A dream!

A Gourmet Jewel in the Frankish Mainland and Wine Country

We went to a group of friends for dinner at the restaurant Kolb en Zeil.From the entrance to the restaurant until the dessert each dish was delicious.the white wine they offered was also excellent.the service was very good and fast.the atmosphere in the garden was very beautiful between the plants.

On our main bike tour we spent one night. The room was modern and very clean, unfortunately the bathroom was exceptionally small. (Image with green wall) In the evening we were eating in the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food.

Rooms with small bathroom

Very good rating for an excellent kitchen and very hospitable service in a family-run house. There is a good and daily changing menu and the wine menu is good. We had two very enjoyable evenings in a slightly larger group. The rooms are differently designed and the price/performance ratio is absolutely ok. We would love to come back.

Traveling holiday

We stayed overnight because of a one-night visit to the hotel Kolb. Check in and out was very friendly. Everything was very clean. The room looked very small. You could just walk around the bed. On the window side there was still room for a miniature chair and two chairs. The style of the furnishings is a matter of taste - the transparent plastic chairs and the purple elements didn't match ours. The bathroom I almost felt as an excuse. It looked like you would have built this into the wall closet afterwards, it was so small and narrow. It could be difficult for people to use the toilet. A non-dense slide separated it from the room. The breakfast below average. Maybe that's why it was so selective, because it seemed like two tents in a night would be fine. For both of us, it was a super nice service that I didn't want to pick up.

We stayed three nights in September.  The hotel describes its rooms as all having individual character.  We stayed in room 9.  If you like purple shag-pile carpet and transparent plastic chairs you will like this room.  It looks out over a patch of neglected garden.  The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.  The main problem was the shower room which had clearly started life as a wardrobe.  It has a sliding door which closes to leave a 4 cm gap, so gives no privacy or sound proofing.  The bathroom was 70 cm wide, and the shower tray was 56 cm square.  Having said that, it was very clean and everything worked.  Breakfast was the  usual German buffet and tables were labelled with the guests names which I thought a good idea. We chose not to eat here so I can't comment on the food.  I think a little competition would be good for this hotel.

Average - and the only place to stay in Zeil

We were on our bike tour only to eat there and (after we were somewhat skeptical when we first saw the house) were extremely positively surprised: a rich 5-course menu well below 50 euros, including a really dreamlike, pink Vitello tonnato, an extremely extensive wine map (about 100 wines from many top wineries at really very affordable prices) in a relaxed atmosphere! What more do we want??? This is definitely not a typical restaurant in a small town as it is called in another review something uncomfortable.

Excellent food with excellent price performance

As I said before, the appearance is false. We were here for three days and we enjoyed it very much. Although the rooms are not very modern, but the food was excellent and the service and the service were excellent. We are happy to come back.

Travel weekends

We stayed only one night at Hotel Kolb in Illertissen, but we liked it very much. Nice room we had the suite, which was very nice and super big. We enjoyed the breakfast very much, everything there and nice service. We'll drive back.

It's a very good time.

Room pretty crowded, windows leaking, crumbling cleanliness, view of an unattended backyard. Food nothing special, no decoration, a meal was very salty, (Operation wanted to make the kitchen look nice), I wonder what the awards were for, garden terrace extremely unattended, untamed lawn, everything very unpleasant.
