This is a large property and there was construction going on.  The reception is on the side street.  Then down the hall.  The staff were very nice.  The rooms were clean.  The bunk beds were comfortable. The bathroom functional.  There is a small store down the side street.  It is a bit of a walk to the subways.  We didn't take the breakfast.  We brought our own sheets and towels.  The rooms were quiet.  We were there to tour so we didn't want much in a room.

Budget hotel

After being told this was a hotel by my travel agent, I was quite surprised to discover that this was in fact, a hostel. 

From my experience the place was clean and warm, bordering on hot. 

The “hotel” was full of young people, and due to the lack of sound proofing, I could hear them through the night running up and down the corridor. 

There is a bar on the ground floor with plenty of seating, and they even serve pizza whenever you want it. Ideal. 

The ensuite is tiny, there’s not enough room to swing a cat, (that’s an expression, I didn’t mean it literally, unless you have a cat that enjoys being swung. 

All in all I’d say this hotel is ok for a night or two, and if you are young, however, even I’d struggle with the lack of sleep due to the noise if I was staying here longer.

A Bedbug Poem

Visited here with 4 friends between Christmas and New Year. Very affordable and decent facilities for the price. As we were in a dorm, we had our own bathroom, although it was very small. The place was loud, which was fine for us as we were going out at night but probably not suitable for families with young children. No refrigerator in the room but that was not a huge problem. One of the shelves was slightly broken and the windows were also broken. We also had to pay €6 for towels and linen for beds. Overall, I would stay here again and would say it is good value for money for travellers! 

Good for a short stay 

Stayed here for three nights with 4 friends all in early 20s. When we arrived we had to pay €1.50 for a towel and €3.50 for bed sheets (which I’ve never experienced in any other hostel)! We bought a 6 bed dorm despite only having 5 of us to ensure we didn’t have a stranger in with us, so our room and en suite was alright, however there was a shelf hanging off in front of the mirror and the bathrooms were tiny. The beds were pretty comfy and despite being small, the bathroom was also okay and had body wash and soap provided. The hostel isn’t totally soundproof and you can hear people next door or in the corridors and it is predominately young groups of people staying (which was perfect for us, but maybe not ideal for older people or families). Location is alright too, there’s an Aldi not far away and it’s only 5 minutes waking to the station which connects you to everywhere anyway! Despite being a bit rough round the edges the hostel is alright for a short stay and I would go back to it as we had no major issues and it was pretty cheap. Just don’t expect wonders as it is a hostel more than a hotel and it’s much cheaper than other places. 

Not excellent, but good for a short stay

For starters, this hostel is extremely dirty, my friend found a stain on her mattress, we had to turn it.
They don't change sheets nor towels.
You are expected to make your own bed whic is something I am fine with.
Rooms are claustrophobic, 2 people cannot walk in there at the same time. Radiators don't work and curtains are dirty.
Besides, staff is so rude with customers, for instance customers have to clear the tables - by the way tables are never clean- and staff addressed us nastily.
I am ok with clearing up, but politeness is the basic when it comes to human interaction, feeling mistreated is actually the worst. 
What strikes me the most is the absolute lack of cleaning.
There's just one elevator and there are way too many clients.
Kitchen is to be closed at ten o'clock but one night they decided to shut it down at 8:30, hence there was no food left.
Not to mention food quality, in fact it cannot even be classified as food it is awful.
If you have food allergies do not expect to find much to eat.
Dishes are blatantly dirty.
The bright side is breakfast, as there is plenty of food.
Moreover, Wifi is excellent and there are enough plugs in the room.


Awful experience wasted money

It may be written in their description that the hotel rooms and the hostel rooms are on different floors, but apparently “they changed” and forgot to update this information so they still continue selling you so-called-hotel-rooms which are actually hostel rooms including all the noises of a hostel. When you go to the reception because the noisy groups on your floor make it impossible to relax and sleep, you will be reminded that “they are a hostel”. So expect nothing more, folks!

Too noisy!

I am at this hostel at the moment with two colleagues and 30 14-year old students. 
The check-in is slow - but I can live with that. 
At check-in we were told that quite-time it between 22-06. 

The whole building is made of concrete and the noise travels. 
It is absolutely impossible to get a nights sleep at this hostel. Students are running up and down the stairs, slamming doors and yelling all night. 
Going down in the reception does not help. 

There are too many kids/students at this place, it is impossible to give a group message in the reception area because of the amount of people and noise. 

I am never taking my student back to this hostel. 

Never again 

Can’t really fault the hostel itself, it is basic and clean. 

The staff however were rude, unhelpful and lazy! Advertised that they were around to held give directions and advice but couldn’t be bothered to even talk to you really. 

Waited for service at the bar for over 20 minutes and received a clipped impolite return. 

Would advice looking elsewhere to stay if your looking for staff to help during your stay in Berlin. 

Worst staff imaginable 

The worst hostel I’ve ever visited in my life!

Receptionst was unpleasent and even disrespectful.

I’ve booked a room from 09.01.2017 to 10.01.2017 in berlin mitte using their site.
First of all it is impossible to pay city tax online. But when I came they had no cash available to give me change 

Second thing.Receptionist offered us towels. When I agreed she said they have no any at the moment.

The room was cold.. The same temperature as outside. The reason was the broken window.

Our room wasn’t cleaned!!! Someone forgot to flush the toilet before we arrived!!!

Elevator wasnt in the best condition. Door closed after fifth try.

I cant recommend you A&O Hostel Berlin Mitte!
