I stayed at the Veranda hotel from 11.02 for a week. 
I arrived late in the evening, and Ruslan met me at the reception. He was very attentive and friendly for me and other guests and always in touch.  
I also want to note that the guys took care of late dinner for me. Big thanks!
Veranda is a nice place with perfect view in the dining room. There is everything what you need in rooms, even large heating battery and hanger for drying clothes after skiing. There is a storage room for ski equipment on the first floor.

the hotel is clean and in a beautiful location.  the staff is very friendly.  We love coming back here every year. Amazing people,  amazing place.  And local cognac is TOP 
 Best Hotel in gudauri.  every morning a taxi was waiting for us in front of the hotel for free, which took us to the ski slope.  5 minutes, but it helps a lot

I can only recommend

Nana, the owner or manager, speaks English, Russian and her native Georgian.  She went way above and beyond to assist us with transportation from and to Tibilisi and with preparation and serving of meals, including with respect to the timing and content thereof.  Our needs were exceeded for meals both within and outside of the half-board plan, which is recommended.  Half board includes the room, a buffet breakfast and dinner.  (If you are skiing, you will be up the mountain at lunch time anyway and won't want or need it at the hotel.)

Breakfast is basic, but tasty and complete, offering unlimited slices of ham, salami, and cheese, together with a large tray of freshly cooked eggs in an omelette style (but not stuffed with ingredients) and a tray of oatmeal.  You can also request yogurt with or without jam and make other reasonable requests, I imagine.  Instant coffee and tea bags, water and milk are also offered.

Dinner is a set menu of local Georgian food, but it's different each evening and is served individually.  It includes, for example, a large family-sized salad plate such as beet root and potato salad or rice, pea and carrot salad (think healthy and delicious), white bread, a large bowl of soup (creamy pumpkin on two nights and vegetables with mushrooms on another night, for example), a main course like (i) noodles and stir fried chicken or (ii) beef, pork and vegetable-filled dumplings, and fresh home-made desserts like sponge cakes with frosting and pudding or yogurt with freshly cut oranges, apples and pears.  This is not four or five star restaurant cuisine, but rather is basic local Georgian fare.  However, it's a good balance of healthy and fried foods, the portions are large, and the taste is very good.  All of the guests eat at the same time in a relaxed, cozy dining hall which includes sofas, chairs, Russian-language satellite TV, and, after dinner, a festive environment where music is played for several hours (although not too late or too loud) and guests drink their own libations (or buy them from the hotel, as you wish).  We bought a half liter of tasty Georgian red wine for dinner each night for very cheap. 

The hotel is quite basic, but very cozy (which probably has, again, a lot to do with how friendly and accommodating the staff are).  Wifi is included.  Beds are basic, but comfortable.  Some rooms include private balconies but there is also a public side balcony on the first floor.  The views of the mountains are nice and can be seen from the dining hall and sofa/TV lounge (a combined open space) and from guest rooms.

There is a ski/boot storage room (large) and free shuttle ride to the ski slopes.  I would not consider the hotel to be in walking distance to the slopes.  The roads are icy, the drivers are fairly poor and not at all pedestrian friendly, and the distances are too great to be walking in ski boots with skis, in any case.  You really need to get a ride from the hotel to the lifts and that takes more time, of course, than if you stay in a larger hotel which is actually on the ski slopes.  If you stay right at the base of the gondola, however, remember that those accommodations are already more than 2,000 meters above sea level and can easily cause high altitude sickness for those visiting directly from sea-level home countries.  Hotel Veranda is at a significantly lower altitude than the gondola.  Regardless of where you stay, if you are visiting from low altitude regions, you may want to acclimatize before traveling directly to a lodge above 2,000 meters...

Are there fancier and nicer lodging options in Gudauri and hotels closer to the slopes?  Surely.  But, we'll return to Hotel Veranda because Nana, the main cook named Elizo,  and other staff and guests alike made us and, most importantly, our two young children feel like we were at home.  Elizo and Nana showed love to our children as if they were their own.  Elizo put a cooking apron and cap on our four-year-old daughter and let her learn how to set and clear the tables.  Those interactions were our best memories for the entire ski week.  Thanks to Elizo, Nana and Gote for the special treatment and memories, which made us all sad to leave and looking forward to our next visit.

The staff made this place feel like home.

Hotel is located in Gudauri, a little bit away from main road. Since it's lower than road and lifts, it's better to go by taxi to the lifts (hotel offers free of charge transfer, just don't miss it). Way back to hotel is okay by foot (approx. 15-20 minutes from lower station).
Hotel offers nice clean rooms with great mountain view. Half-pension is what you need if your plan is to ride whole day.
Hotel owner Nana is very friendly and speaks English.
