Stayed here with 4 of us as a family (all adults) for 5 nights. It was incredible; we loved every second. Our host Moea was wonderful, accommodating, attentive and very helpful.

We had a car to get around Moorea which we found necessary if you want to move around and visit the island. There is a bike available offered by Te Ora Hau to get things locally from shops.

We really appreciated the cold filter water machine - it was boiling hot so we needed it. We loved having kitchen facilities. 

The biggest pull was the kayaks and stand-up paddle boards, sun loungers, private terrace and own little beach on our doorstep overlooking an incredible lagoon. It was by far the best snorkelling we had over the island where we saw sharks, rays, turtles, lots and lots of fishes! We loved it.

& the stars at night were incredible!!

The only downside was no air-con but we were aware of this when booking and it was worth it.

Beautiful trip in a perfect paradise

We paid about A$800 for 4 nights for this private two storey bungalow on the south eastern corner of Moorea with nothing but sand between our toes, and nothing but the reef and the ocean between us and the big island of Tahiti Nui on the distant horizon.

These bungalows are traditional islander dwellings with solid thatched shutters for windows and mosquito nets for undisturbed sleeping. Paddle boards, and snorkel gear is provided along with a private beach. Oh, and a tricycle for fetching your bread and milk from the supermarket a couple of klms down the road. 

This is escapist stuff so no TV (but excellent Internet for streaming). And no air cond but a fan and lovely see breezes. (Note: Our rating is not like a hotel rating - it's an experience rating, so dont confuse our 4 "stars" with luxury). 

And the evening twinkling lights of Tahiti Nui, like some gigantic jewel reflecting the shower of twinkling stars above it will long remain in the memory. 

Except for the fact that your 10 metres from the main island road you could be Robinson Crusoe

This is a beautiful place on the edge of the lagoon. Perfect for a restful day, but there are no cafes or restaurants within walking or even a short drive. So you have to self cater, There's a local supermarket in Afereaitu with all the basics, also a Champion Supermarket by the Ferry port. The Fares are quaint and quirky with reasonable facilities. 
We felt quite safe here, despite the owner suggesting you need to lock everything up (we didn't). It's lovely to step out of your Fare onto the beach and into one of the kayaks freely available for a pootle on the lagoon. The beach is pristine, though the lagoon is not really deep enough to swim in, but good for a cool down.
It's next to the lagoonarium which is well worth a visit for the reef snorkeling with feeding for sharks and rays etc.All quite safe. The restaurants, cafes shops etc are on the N of the island, and you'd need a car to get there. Be warned though, that it took us 90 mins to get our Avis car from outside the ferry terminal. 
There is free internet on-site but you have to locate the spots where you can pick it up.
Despite the (very hard) bed being provided with mosquito nets, we weren't bothered by any insects at all - but of course it was the winter (30C) 
Be aware that if arriving on a Sunday, there will be no food shops open after midday.

A great spot for a blob out!

My wife and I stayed 2 nights at Te Ora Hau. On the positive side, our host Maea, was wonderful. She provided fresh flowers for us as well as a welcome platter of fresh fruit when we arrived. Also, the Ecolodge is located right on the beach, so our bungalow was literally steps from the water, which was very clear. We liked that kayaks and paddleboards were provided free for use (although 2 of the 3 paddleboards did not have skegs so were useless except to float around on). Several sets of Adirondack chairs were on the beach for guest use. The property is gated for security but there is sufficient parking for 4 vehicles inside. You'll definitely need a car here!  On the down side...First, one word ANTS. Everywhere. In the sink and surrounding area, on the furniture, in the bathroom. We hated to put anything down for fear of having the little buggers moving into our luggage. Even the can of Raid which was provided gave only temporary relief. Also, the place is really cramped. Ants aside, the bathroom entrance is under the stairs so you almost need to squeeze in sideways to avoid knocking your shoulder against the door. The toilet and shower are within inches of each other, so the toilet is always wet, as is the floor around the toilet. We didn't mind the gecko in the shower because we figured it might be eating ants. Although Maea was very nice we wouldn't stay here again. Most of the restaurants and attractions are on the other side of the island, so again, you really need a car here. 

Very Basic Accommodation

Please please be aware of your surroundings there. First the place didn't looked like the picture and it was a little rundown. The location is good but at night time we locked all the doors and windows but someone came in the middle of the night open the back door and entered and stole our wallet and they also stole things on the bungalow next to us , worst experience in all my years coming to tahiti I will stick from now on to the hotels or trusted properties

WE GOT ROBBED!!!!

Less than 24 hours after I paid for the accommodations, the French government shut down the French Polynesia border to tourists.  I immediately requested a refund (all within 24 hours) and the owner refused!  She should have not accepted booking or PAYMENT knowing the border was going to close!

Beware!

I felt unsafe the whole time here and rightly so. Something is not right here. The owner insists you lock all doors and windows even when relaxing here. No surprise we were robbed and I was woken by the thief shining a torch in my face when I called out they fled not before taking all my money and my friends money. When we investigated in the morning it was evident they must have had keys ..... And just let themselves in and to our things. When we spoke to the owner she told us we had left a window open and this must have been the access ... She revealed a window behind a painting, this window is only visible from the outside and it was opened ...... But the sandy foot prints told us ( and we have a expert tracker with us) showed us that they entered through the back door and left by the side door and that the footprints went into the other house on the block. The lovely lady who works there said she was worried when she saw we had all the lights on after we were robbed ( around midnight) and she also told us she had tracked the footprints of the thief to the other house and that she thought they had entered through the door and not the window. When we spoke with The owner she was aggressive and accused Us of being dishonest , it is she who is dishonest and I am poor and was scared half to death and then abused by owner. This was a terrible experience take care and stay away.
