We have just got back from a week at La Comte in Portbail, and we are really sad about it. I could have stayed forever! The house is beautiful, with a wonderfully homey feel. Very spacious with a huge garden, which we spent a lot of time in. There are a variety of different fruit trees/bushes which we were told to help ourselves too. We made great use of the bbq area, which was big enough to cater for our 8! Janette is so helpful, friendly and approachable. She is full of information about the house and the area too. We were made to feel so welcome, especially by our 'holiday dog' Lucky! The house is only a short distance from Portbail and the beach. My brother in law and his girlfriend rode to the beach on the tandem a couple of times! A wonderful house run by wonderful people in a stunning setting! What more could anyone want? Definitely hope to return one day :)

Absolutely wonderful place to stay!

The accommodation is very clean and tidy and the beds are comfortable, there is large fridge for guest use and a wonderful large rear garden and barbeque area. The accommodation is very flexible and would  suit large families or tour groups. Our group of four were using this place as motorcycle touring base, we were allowed to park our bikes in the large secure barn, in the evening Peter or Jeanette would take us and pick us up from Port Bail in their car which saved us getting all togged up in bike gear to go out. This place is great value for money and I would stay there again without any hesitation . Some B&Bs could learn a lot from the excellent customer service provided by these owners.

Great service, value secure barn for motorbikes, gite is perfect for groups.
Gave us a lift into and back from portbail each night.
Very nice large garden.

Excellent place to stay, especially groups and motorbikes.

We stayed at La Comte for a long weekend and found the premises to be clean and welcoming.  The hosts are english and very friendly, they provided a barn to park our motorbikes and gave us loads of information of where to ride in the area.  Its only a short distance from Cherbourg and all the war memorials etc are in close proximity.  We will certainly use this again for both a large group and/or couple.

Great place to stay

12 of us needed somewhere to stay at the last minute due to ferry problems and we came across La Comte and it's owners. I must say that in all my years of biking around Europe this is probably one of the nicest places we have stayed. It's quiet, clean and the owners were very hospitable. There is also a safe locked barn to keep the bikes in, which for us meant we didn't have to completely unload the bikes.
